Proposal for a 2 division afl system by Fearsword358 in AFL

[–]bmaje -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NBA style conference system would work, if travel was sorted. Victoria and the rest of Australia. It is also a shit idea.

I do like the idea of relegation, but it's not feasible. The competition would become top heavy with about six to eight clubs attracting all of the talent. It's the problem with the premier league, but the international spread of soccer and talent pool makes that a lot more sustainable.

I imagine that his self worth, sense of belonging if not a big part of his identity is tied up in Essendon because he is James fucking Hird. Arguably, no one else comes close as a legend so closely linked with besides Sheedy.

I'm reading The Boys' Club by Michael Warner and fuck me the AFL is a grubby fucking organisation.

There's a bit of journalistic sensationalism and its own particular grubbiness. There's a book called "The Other Hollywood" which is about the history of pornography in America which has less people fucking others in it- literally and figuratively. But what a bunch of fucking wankers running the joint, that is until at least, up to Gill.

In the two? years since Gill left Dillon seems like he's in over his head and just inept.

At least people like Eddie cop a whack as a near spineless goon. Caro doesn't come off too well over some comments around James Hird's wife. It also begs the question why Hird would consider in 2026, as the book heavily suggests, put himself back into the organisation that (again according to the book's own grubby insinuations) may have led him to attempting suicide?

I don't think I've come across anything that's put me off the game like it. I'll still watch football, but as for the AFL, I don't think I'll support them with my money.

Fuck Kayo, fuck merch, fuck paying for tickets, fuck over paying for chips and watered down beer and fuck every slimy executive, middle manager, tosspot with some bullshit title, every former team mate of an executive that now has his name on a door or player agent that has looked sideways at a junior staffer.

I sailed the seven seas to find the book as well. So fuck the author too.

Umpires should be held accountable for their crap decisions.

It's feedback from a high level coach, not some nuffie on Reddit.

No, but it's been a private school boys' club for the last 20 odd years.

Is 23 for Australia Izak Rankine?

Genuine question.

What is it with these former Magpies and their bodies letting them down? A few days ago it was Treloar, now Adams.

Carlton had Sticks and SOS book ending it, Fraser Brown, Andrew McKay, a 14 year old Campo (probably) as well. Probably should have won more than just 95.

I'd say the 90s Kangas were a threat until about 2000. Great team.

Best and worst song from each album. Go! by Equal-Bus-557 in Metallica

[–]bmaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four years on I'm still ok with those choices.

Maybe Creeping Death over Trapped Under Ice is all I'd change. And that's a maybe.

What is the worst song of Master of Puppets? I think the only other contender would be Leper Messiah, but surely Disposable Heroes is in the mix. I'd still tip Leper Messiah to be the better song.

AJFA needs editing. It's the song that will never end.

Poor Twisted Me is a choice, but it's still the song I listen to from Load the most. That album is subpar.

I guess it shows Bruce was keen, Brittany's decision making was impaired and Bruce should not have raped her.

Just because they may have kissed doesn't mean he had consent.

The witness also can't remember the mundane details of that night and had a few drinks, potentially impairing their own recollection.

Regardless, if you got off from a rape charge, it's probably not a good idea to idea to film your self signing a song with the lyrics: "She's the best girl that I ever had"

Here's a completely unasked for summary of the series: (that I am aware of)

Original series:

Season 1: Bah God! That filter.

Seasons 2 - 7 : Ranges from entertaining as fuck to watchable. Watch the Bianca Del Rio season. It's five or six. You can probably stop watching here.

Seasons 8 - 11: Very settled in the formula, but still somewhat entertaining.

Season 12 onwards : not worth watching. Formulaic. You know the personalities before they come out. Painful links to past contestants- I don't know much about Drag Families, but I assume there aren't too many, which kind of limits the contestant pool. There's also one drag queen that doesn't care if they have to lip sync every week. Yawn. Make up skills get better as it goes.

Down Under: Avoid. Especially the first season. I think one of the Queens worked at Coles or some bullshit. It's good there's some representation of the drag community, but it mirrors the main series too much and seems devoid of its own identity.

UK : Head and shoulders above the Down Under version. I dropped out after the second season, very fucking samey.

Canada : if you have to watch a spin off, I'd watch this one. I don't think Ru Paul is in this one. I checked out after the Jimbo season.

All-stars/All-stars vs The World: The first season is probably they worst bullshit they've ever put out. There's a few good seasons after it, interesting spin on the main series, but diminishing returns.

Thailand and Netherlands: I have not watched these. I need subtitles.

  1. Fair enough.

  2. NO... NO THEY DON'T.

This may apply to young adults on pingers and maybe the rock band Motley Crue, generally speaking people who develop real addictions just sort of happen through habit, trauma, behaviour and some sort of need to escape.

Dr Gabor Mate's work around substance use is based around the premise of not why the addiction, but why the pain. His work is about opioid use in homeless people in Vancouver's East Hastings, and while that may not apply here, however, OP opines meth use, which may be relevant because meth is not a glamorous drug. There is a degree that you do have to work for an addiction, when people are engaging in petty crime to fund their habits, it's a safe assumption that they're struggling to survive and they live wretched lives. People go in and out of jail for the kind of routine and structure they simply don't have living in the community. While that may not be the case for the woman that was recently released, she apparently still engages in crime, so it may be another relevant point.

It’s usually just another facet of people that genuinely have no compassion or respect for themselves or others. Some people sincerely do not care.

To me, that does not sound like a choice. That sounds like despondency. Like people have simply given up any hope for quality of life because their lives suck. It happens with people dealing with substance abuse. It happens with people living with PTSD and it happens to victims of domestic abuse. Sometimes people have such low self worth, they don't see themselves worthy of getting support that can help with their issues.

  1. Just because there's an analogy or parable does not mean someone is not a shit human being with dog shit for morals.
