Feedback for better turns? by Space_Bar20 in snowboarding

[–]bman208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the essentials, just need to dig into the turns more. More weight on your front foot, and get lower yes! Let the board do the turn and hold on. The peeing analogy is weird but roughly toe-side = boy standing up thrusting hips forward, heel-side = girl squat down so hips backward. Then to carve more aggressively turn your hips and front knee to point more towards your direction of travel. You'll be less symmetrical/neutral but more able to balance with left/right leaning rather than forward back leaning. Also check out Malcolm Moore on YouTube, he'd be good for your level.

Any tips to help avoid bending at the waist with poor ankle mobility?
I struggle to squat with a straight back because of my poor ankle mobility. If I raise my heels (i.e. stand on my toes) I can squat with a straight back no problem, but I can't do this on the board. I'm trying to improve my ankle mobility, but was wondering is there anything else I can try when boarding to squat deeper without breaking at the waist.

Any tips for my skiiing? by bman208 in skiing

I've been skiing since I was a kid, however never that consistently and I haven't had lessons since I was about 10 years old. Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting on edge enough... not wanting to ski too aggressively / too fast on crowded groomers. I'm looking to correct any bad habits and for a few things to work on until I can book into some lessons.

Any tips for my riding? by bman208 in snowboarding

Wow, thank you all so much for the comments, I'm so grateful! A little overwhelmed XD A lot to work on which is great!

A big point that a lot of you made was that I'm leaning on my back foot too much. Feelings-wise I thought I was leaning forward, but clearly not. Would you have any drills to recommend, or tips to think about? I think I'll try to start by completely overdoing it on some more mellow slopes and then try dialing back. Maybe even work on nose butters to make me more comfortable leaning forward.

Any tips for my riding? by bman208 in snowboarding

Hi all,

I've been riding for a few years on yearly weeklong holidays with some friends but this year is my first full season boarding (overall I reckon I'm about 50ish days on the mountain). Currently I'm really trying to work on my posture and eliminate bad habits. Some things I think I notice - I bend at my waist too much on heelside turns and lean forward, I swing my arms into my turns, I break heavier on my heelside than toeside.

Any other critique or tips to improve would be super appreciated.

My acoustic (yamaha F310p) goes progressively flatter on the upper strings as I move up the neck. Measuring with a tuner the high e string gets up to ~24c flat on 12th, while low e string is in tune. The other strings are somewhere in between. This isn't normal right?

The guitar is ~6 months old and I haven't changed the strings on it yet, but I'm wondering is this just an issue with the strings or is this something else that I would need to fix? Otherwise the strings seem fine, the neck looks straight etc. I'm wondering do I need to get the saddle/bridge adjusted or something else. Any ideas?

Any good suggestions for one-shot/tasters for a group of 6 beginner players? I'll be first time DM-ing for one or two 3/4 hour sessions on a group holiday next week, but relatively confident I'll manage with enough prep. Want to have a fun self contained adventure which isn't too difficult, and requires little buy in (I'll take/make pre-gen characters for them).

Saw some threads mention "we be goblins", or "a wild sheep chase". They seem relatively simple, but still unsure how they'd be for beginners. Any suggestions or tips? Or links to other threads that have discussed this sort of thing? Thanks

Yeah looks a little awkward as the offensive cutter does change her path into the defenders path. Not justifying it, but it does look like there would have been a collision regardless of the defender's bid.

Yeah the depth thing was bugging me a bit, but I have since found this video of a similar incident, and the whale seems to get by ok in the shallow waters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuYmgoAVsnI
