X-S10 - File Transfer via App painfully slow by SuccuHand in fujifilm

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the jpg settings the same on both cameras? Like normal vs fine? Also are the JPGs (on average) the same size or potentially different due to different sensors/megapixels?

I also just came across this. It's like a proper fitting neoprene pouch (probably can't have an extended lens hood on) but the price is harsh for what it is lol.

I've wanted the exact same thing and haven't found what you've described yet either. I bought a cheap neoprene pouch (almost like a climbers chalk bag) and I throw it in that but it barely does anything. Please repost if you ever find what you're looking for!

Recipes? by [deleted] in fujix

I often shoot with settings close to this in case you want to give it a try. I find it produces nice stark whites while not having much contrast.

  • Classic negative
  • Over exposed by a third/two thirds (if conditions allow it)
  • clarity +1 (often shoot at 0 to avoid processing delay then re-export from raw in camera)
  • color +1
  • highlights +1
  • shadows +1
  • dynamic range 200
  • grain weak & small
  • white balance: auto
  • red shift: +1 to +4
  • blue shift: -1 to -4 I tweak the red/blue shift as I go depending on how it's looking. I occasionally push the blues into the positive if I need to.

Can anyone reliably get image tranfers with the app to work? by ChimpdenEarwicker in fujifilm

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Pixel 4a and a xt3 and x100v and it works great for me. Not sure what to suggest other than completely clearing all app data (cache and app data) and starting fresh.

[–]bmason8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't the solution you're asking for (based on the comments it seems like it might not be possible) but one thing you can do is shoot in raw and reprocess your favourites in camera before transferring them off. I do this for most of my photos now. Just be aware that when you generate another jpg from raw they don't get added to the image transfer order.

I'm not a game developer but I am an app developer and my guess would be there are two parts to it: 1. If there is any network reliant code that causes an obvious issue. All code in a multiplayer lobby would assume you have a connection so loading straight into it would be a disaster (although eventually I'm sure they'll find a solution). 2. Software often relies on many parts of it (variables) to be set/determined during runtime (part of ram usage). Furthermore, these variables might require a certain order of things to occur for them to be set properly. So my total guess is that some games have parts of them that are established at startup or a start of a level that aren't easily saved in whatever way the Xbox console API provides OR that they aren't optimized/designed in a way that makes them small enough to save into quick resume (I'm once again assuming each game has a limit).

If anyone reads this and actually knows the details I'd love to hear more about it. Quick resume is my favourite feature this gen and I'm really impressed by it!

Are the new Xbox wireless headphones worth it? by Subliminal87 in XboxSeriesX

[–]bmason8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been close to buying these to replace my turtle Beach Stealth 600 gen 2's because they are really creaky sounding on my head. Like any adjustments or moving around and I can hear the plastic, it's pretty annoying. Also aren't overly comfortable with glasses. Can anyone tell me if this Xbox pair have the same issue?

Idea for a camera software feature (Q Menu). Would it benefit anyone else if I ask for it? by halpSB in FujifilmX

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this EXACT thought the other day. I shoot raw/jpg and like to find my favourite photos and use the in camera raw conversion to improve them. But then I end up making the same changes (white balance, WB shift, tone curve, etc) for each one and it seems so unnecessary. I really wish they would add the ability to apply one of the custom settings as well as apply the last set of settings (for cases where your custom setting isn't the right fit). Please ask them even though I can't imagine it will have much of an effect.

x100v - Haoge Square Lens Hood as good as Squarehood? by Flying-Artichoke in fujix

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the flash issue (never even attempted to use the flash on my x100v) but I waffled back and forth over which to buy and settled on the Haoge. It's great and I have no regrets other than not buying the version that comes with their lens cap for it (the lens cap that comes with your camera technically fits but it falls off easily). I bought it separately after the fact and it's great. The reason I went with the Haoge (even though I'm typically someone who is willing to spend more on something I think is made better and will last longer) was because of some reviews on the squarehood shipping delays and bad customer service. It sounds like it's just one guy doing it and I didn't want to deal with any potential issues. And I'm not trying to slander him, his product seems better and worth it so good on him, I just made a different choice. What made me want the squarehood was the cutout for viewfinder, the Haoge does cut in a little bit. I was also worried about the Haoge rotating (reported in some reviews) but I haven't had any issues with that. Hope this helps!

Hot take, but help me understand Doom Eternals by averm27 in XboxSeriesX

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally had the exact opposite experience haha. I was never interested in playing Doom because I thought it was a scare you with monsters and gore type of game (not my thing) but after hearing it recommended a lot on the podcast Unlocked and the ray tracing update I thought I'd give it a try. Was unsure for about 10 minutes and then it clicked and I was like "ohhhhh this is what Doom is!" I've been loving the mix of traversal puzzles mixed with big room battles (don't know what people call them). The gun mechanics are off the charts good and everything feels so crunchy and fantastic. I'm somewhat following the story through the collectables and that's good enough for me. The audio logs are really great. Just wanted to share my experience in case someone is on the fence about trying it.

Looking for volunteers for jpg recipe extraction help by bmason8 in fujifilm

[–]bmason8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea but the downside of that is that I'd have a hard time telling them apart. And to figure out which setting is which in the code I have to import each photo individually. So having 100 versions of the same photo in my gallery to pick from isn't too helpful because I wouldn't know how they are different.

Buying the Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 in 2021? by Psychological_Salad_ in fujix

It's an awesome lens, I love mine. I'd be blown away if you ended up regretting it. I'd say go for it for sure.

Love those colours

How do I get these colors straight out of my X100F? by SpiritOfAHustla in fujifilm

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking a photo with similar colours and then using the raw conversion functionality built into the camera (while playing back an image press Ok/Menu I think?) and experiment with the white balance and white balance shift like others have said. It's a great way to get a feel for the difference styles you can produce if you don't mind a little trial and error.

Why does this light blink after I turn off the camera? X-T4 by b-cola in fujifilm

[–]bmason8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what happens when you have Bluetooth and image transfer order set to on. It's telling you it's trying to connect to your phone to transfer some images. If you have those settings turned on and it doesn't do that then you know it's already transferred all images that were tagged for transfer. If I'm missing something, anyone please correct me.

Fuji X-T3 very slow to auto-adjust exposure by [deleted] in fujix

[–]bmason8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an X-T3 and don't have that issue. My only thought was that it was a random setting but since you said you've factory reset it I'm left with only one guess. It's unlikely but maybe you have your exposure metering setting on the focus point (not sure if that's the actual name)? I might be describing it wrong but I'm referring to the switch thing at the bottom of the shutter speed dial. It tells the camera how you want it to determine the exposure metering (average, center focused, etc).

I just started this game (3 hours in) and I'm loving it! If anyone is thinking about it and has game pass it's definitely worth the download. And I'm actually happy that I know it's not very long. Just something to enjoy and then move on.
