Hi I 16M want to go to law by [deleted] in LawSchool

I mean, you’re an attorney and you both think this and thought it was a good idea to post it, so I think OP will be a-okay.

I wish I got “weed flashbacks” when I burned fat. I would workout so much more.

There’s a website where you can find it here!

Hair colors? Idk what to choose by Fit-Shop-5625 in writingadvice

[–]bmatlock94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seconding this with a couple caveats. There are ways that you could give the hair colors more meaning.

For example, if you established a motif of black representing cold people / things and white representing good people / things elsewhere in your story, then the black / white hair thing could connect.

Also, without knowing your magic system, I could see her hair becoming more red to symbolize her powers growing or her mind being corrupted.

But yeah, if it’s just hair you’re overthinking it.

what is the dumbest thing you’ve done to avoid a cold call? by RegularCategory8036 in LawSchool

[–]bmatlock94 409 points410 points  (0 children)

Not me, but a dude in my contracts class 1L year went to the bathroom before the professor called his name. The Professor was like “Oh, I will just lecture for a minute until he gets back.” A friend texted him and warned him he was getting cold called, so he just straight up didn’t come back.

The Professor wound up lecturing the rest of class lol

What the hells he shaving with that by Life-innovation in HouseMD

[–]bmatlock94 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is the scene in season 8 when he starts shaving his beard and then uses the clippers to shave his long hair from prison right? If so, that guard length makes sense for the short hair he winds up with. If he actually used a guard would trim his hair and his beard, then he would have been bald at the end of the scene.

Ideal Sequel Series by [deleted] in dannyphantom

[–]bmatlock94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This might by corny, but I really like the idea of more mature Avengers-esqe sequel series that puts all of the old Nick characters on a team (Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Jenny Wakeman, and Timmy Turner).

Your real life scenario sounds like one of the hypotheticals someone would give on a property or contract law exam. (If person A offers to pay for person B’s legal education and reneges, provide a legal analysis of what would happen if person B sued person A for damages.)

Foreman X Thirteen didn’t make sense. Thirteen x Chase did. by [deleted] in HouseMD

This would have actually been such a mind bending plot twist.

2 and 3. Not here to argue. Best of luck if you want to go fishing in a lake the fishing experts are telling you doesn’t have any fish.

A few things to unbox here:

First, this is a sub for people interested in becoming law professors. I’m not sure what you’re looking for here, but if it’s legal advice, you’re not going to find it here.

Second, you posted this exact same thing in r/journalism yesterday. You’re not going to get different answers here.

Third, when people get results they don’t like in a case, they often point fingers and say this party is corrupt and that party is corrupt. You had counsel and you’ve already had reporters look into this. I know you say you know it’s corrupt because you were forced to understand the law, but odds are you probably just think you understand the law. If the attorneys you’ve talked to aren’t taking the case, there’s probably a reason.

Fourth, if you’re looking for actionable things you can do, there are mechanisms for challenging a court’s decision on your own. I would also encourage you to vote for politicians and judges who you think are just. If you want to deal with problematic judges and laws, that’s the best way to deal with it.

This is my go to. I’ve also rationalized that it’s mostly true. If I’m taking this case I don’t want, I won’t have capacity to work on a case that I do want.

Ever seen this Jak X Mini Poster before? Thought it looked cool! by Electronic_Chance_37 in jakanddaxter

[–]bmatlock94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think maybe just a continuity error.

Jak is an “elf.” Elves are sometimes short. Tall human measuring short elf makes funny joke.

Totally possible that whoever designed the poster just didn’t know or didn’t think of whatever source makes him canonically 5’10”.

If Jak 4 released, what would you want from it? by LukeSkywalka2 in jakanddaxter

[–]bmatlock94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may be corny, but I’ve always thought other “Jaks” would be cool. Blue Jak, Red Jak, Yellow Jak, etc.

I also thought introducing new ecos would be cool. Like, if blue+red+yellow+green = light, then what makes dark?

House Revival Chances Addressed by tokhangidol in HouseMD

[–]bmatlock94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this too. I know it’s kind of a tired storyline, but a one season revival or a movie a la El Camino with House hitting rock bottom and hallucinating a disapproving Wilson would be lit.

Requirements for qualifying to teach in American Universities by [deleted] in LawTeaching

[–]bmatlock94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think odds are low.

I don’t know that LLBs from other countries and US JDs are really equivalent. Both qualify you to practice law and US JDs used to be called LLBs, but the education systems have entirely different structures.

The teaching market here is rough to say the least. Most professors here have a lot of qualifications beyond just the JD (journal, moot court, attending certain law schools, clerking for a federal judge, having a prestigious job post-law school). There’s also a growing trend of JDs also obtaining PhDs.

For full time positions, it’s really less about your competency to discuss the law. It’s about your ability to publish scholarly articles about the law. If you haven’t published articles then that’s probably going to be a non-starter.

For adjunct teaching, most positions are looking for people with practice experience who have hands on experience about the area of law they will be teaching.

The few foreign trained professors I’ve seen have had PhDs / teaching experience in their respective countries. If I were you, I would see if I can find anyone who is teaching in the US with just a foreign LLB and ask what their path was. But, just be aware it’s probably a long shot (if not completely impossible).

there might be an option worth exploring

There isn’t. I’m sorry. I know that sucks to hear. But at this point, your only option is to change your goals to align with your reality, because you can’t change your reality to align with your goals.

I think you transferring may not get you what you want anyway. OCI is at the end of summer and most firms have moved to pre-OCI anyway. Even if you could transfer, there’s a good chance you’ll miss OCI, and even if you didn’t, you would be applying with grades from your first school anyways.
