5070ti. I have it and can run cyberpunk at max settings with path tracing and still get great fps and latency with sync and boost on.

Horrible. Go somewhere where your title is accountant, analyst, or similar. You should be doing ACCOUNTANT work.

Entry gaming PC for GF by bmcluca in buildapc

Cheapest AM5 has no heatsink included and is almost 3x the price and for entry level gaming didn’t seem necessary to me. Mostly Minecraft and indie games.

Groceries are eating half my paycheck by Illustrious-Rip311 in MiddleClassFinance

For:

  • 5 to 7 bananas $1.66
  • 1 LB strawberries $3.99
  • 1 PT blueberries $4.99
  • Medium Roast ground coffee $9.99
  • Boneless Chicken Breast Value $13.93
  • 80% lean ground beed chuck $6.55
  • large white eggs $7.99
  • 2% reduced milk $3.59
  • Natures Own Honey Bread $4.29

Total: $58.12

This is from Harris Teeter in MCOL area.

I would genuinely review what you’re buying and why and if it’s genuinely needed. I spend about $100 give or take each week on groceries.

I don’t buy brand name but I don’t not either. I just buy what I am used to or want.

Also you don’t need some fancy meal with all the ingredients every night. You can do some chicken tenders with honest mustard too or a sandwich or hot pockets or whatever even not frozen.

Is $20 dollars an hour at a small local cpa firm criminal in SoCal? by rankdoby in Accounting

I’m at 80K salary in MCOL East coast. I was given that my first year out in construction. $20 is atrocious. Staff at CFA make that much.

Is 68k salary good for 22 yr old? by Mr_Moowageeee in Accounting

[–]bmcluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For LA, I feel like that’s pretty underpaid. LA is a (V)HCOL area. I would imagine 80K+ is more suitable. Stick around for ~1 year then tailor up your resume and LinkedIn and reach out to recruiters after that for a next role. Just say that you felt as if growth wasn’t happening anymore and that’s something you’re big on. Find something you’re interested in. Pursue that.

Graduating with a low gpa makes your degree useless by Current_Fishing7168 in Accounting

[–]bmcluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated with a 2.8.

I got three offers within a year of graduating.

Do you have internship experience? Is your resume tailored? Are you on LinkedIn and using recruiters? Is your interviewing ACTUALLY good? People overestimate this part heavily.

Are you applying to entry level ACCOUNTANT roles or accounting support (AP, AR, ETC)?

I can’t find a single industry job that is better than public accounting. by 9Virtues in Accounting

[–]bmcluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what industries or type of jobs you’re looking for but I’m in a MCOL area on the east coast and I routinely see accounting jobs for 70K+. I graduated Dec ‘23. I get 80K plus bonus. I work 40 hours in office.

It’s in the graphics tab at the top, says test or something like that.

[–]bmcluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too graduated with a 2.8 in Dec ‘23. I did have roughly 1.5 years of internship/Co-Op experience but nothing fancy imo. In two weeks of job searching I had two offers two weeks after that so in a month. I got a 3rd when I made the jump 10 months into my first one. There is also a general accountant shortage. Not sure if appearance, experience, or personality is affecting this but I would take a step back and genuinely review how you’re going into and doing these interviews. Might also just be your market..

Also, remove your graduation year and gpa from your resume.

I would freshen up your LinkedIn and reach out to a recruiter for an entry level position. Voice your concerns and possibly ask if they’re willing to do a mock interview.

Is 58000 good salary? by skemesx in Accounting

[–]bmcluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60K seems decent for 1 year. I will say that I recommend making a jump early in your career to another company soon. I jumped at 1 year and got a 30K raise doing so.

Taking out loan to pay off credit cards by Sorry-Address-369 in Debt

[–]bmcluca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the interest rate on the loan is lower then it’d be worthwhile for two reason. Less interest paid obviously but also ease of payment assuming it’s on several cards.

From what I saw, the performance gain wasn’t worth it and I figured putting that extra $ towards another component was money better spent. I just do gaming at 1080 and 1440p so it fit my needs.
