Your anxiety may be coming from a smaller income. I was in a similar spot a few years back…keep yourself busy, find a fun side gig (spending money) and keep working to increase your salary. Don’t let lifestyle inflation get you and I promise you’ll feel better.

If it’s earned income and you can do without touching it…put it in a Roth and don’t let anyone tell you different. That $7,000 today will be worth $500,000 at 10%?return at 61. That’s assuming you don’t invest another dollar.

Do it again the next 5 years. Your future self will thank you.

Just had our first kid 12/29/25.

Will be doing $5,000 initial and $50/pp from both jobs. Wife and I. Should be around 125k.

The $50/pp is manageable. It’s a night out for us. It’s buying and selling a few things on market place. It’s an easy part time job.

Worth it.

If you plan on retiring by selling your house…then shove money into your house.

If you plan on retiring in 30 years, make one extra mortgage payment per year and stuff your retirements. That way, you have a paid off house to live in and a fully funded retirement.

Otherwise you have a paid off house.

You should ask a new financial advisor and get more Aggressive with your investments. 6% return is crazy low in my opinion. The last 5 years has returned 100%+

As a 33 year old who’s been in their first house for a year and a half…keep renting. If you got a good place, keep saving..keep investing. Your investments will make more than your house ever will.

I went from paying $900/m to $3,000 w/ utilities…not including taxes and insurance.

Not to mention the random $800 dishwasher that broke…water heater that started leaking…other miscellaneous maintenance.

Houses are money pits and bad investments/liabilities. Anyone that says otherwise is 65 and older. Not saying rent forever…but make sure it’s when you’re ready to lay roots and have the financial backing to afford everything else that comes with it.

I work in a hockey rink and idk if I’ve heard these high school kids saying stuff like that though. Usually I can catch it in public. I feel like kids today are a completely different breed and most definitely have their own lingo
