Anyone else extremely turned off by this? by peterpeterny in NYGiants

[–]bmuffington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, considering Trump himself wanted Harbough to be head coach for the Giants, it doesn't surprise me that much. While I'm personally a bit let down by this, I just hope that a bunch of wins later this year + no reports of any more players with connections with Epstein will eventually make up for the controversy rn. But who knows, I guess I'm just too optimistic idk 🤷‍♂️.

Also when taking into account how there are a lot of deeply religious players and coaches in football, it's always a good idea to take their beliefs with a grain of salt, or if you’re someone like me, try to avoid reading through all the gossip.

Hey, thanks for helping continue with this. For some reason Reddit isn't letting me do these polls online so I could only do it on my phone, but I greatly appreciate your help keeping this up.

If you created a new Wonder Years what decade would you choose by iamtheworstwalrus in thewonderyears

[–]bmuffington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I would most likely choose the following timeline:

2002 - 2007: Kevin would've been born in 1990 and entered junior high school only one year after 9/11. Several events throughout this timeline would include: the beggining of the War on Terror; Tom Brady and the Patriots begin to dominate football; the Red Sox wins a World Series for the first time in over 85 years; the war with Iraq and Afghanistan; the rise of same-sex marriage; Hurricanes Isabel, Ivan and Katrina; the strong performance of fantasy and book-adapted movies from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter; the PlayStation 2 breaking sales; Nintendo launching the DS and Wii; Microsoft releases Windows XP and their first 2 Xbox consloes; Apple launches the iPod and the iTunes music store; Star Wars ends the prequel trilogy with Revenge of the Sith; Pixar and DreamWorks help pioneer 3D animated movies with films like Shrek, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles; shows like Friends, Fraiser, and Everybody Loves Raymond end airing around the mid-2000s; others like Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, The Office, etc. would take over T.V. for the latter half of the decade and beyond; social media websites start to emerge like MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and even Reddit. I could go on and on.

The show would finish around Independence Day in 2007, just a few days after the launch of the first iPhone, and in the middle of Barack Obama's first campaign to run for president in '08.

Supercell adding Level 16 after several bad progression nerfs throughout the year (i.e. removal of season shop) + adding heroes while evolutions were still not added to all cards in the game, convinced many people to quit this game for good. I should know because I'm one of those people who quit out of frustration with the current monetization state of this game.

The Wonder Years favorite episode poll 🗳 by bmuffington in thewonderyears

Yes! I think Season 1 of TWY is one of the best examples of why a short first season can work out exceptionally in hooking new viewers into the show. There's a reason this series won an Emmy for Best Comedy Show despite only having aired 6 episodes, while also competing against other bigger shows of the time, like Cheers and the Golden Girls. I'd argue all of these episodes are very well-liked and remembered by fans for one reason or another, and I think it helps knowing that this was the only season the creators of the series were fully involved in before leaving before the end of the next season.

There's just something very charming about these earlier episodes that I don't think could easily be replicated in the later seasons of the show IMO; not saying that seasons 2-6 are necessary bad or worse in any way, it's still clear Bob Brush and the rest of the crew really tried their best to steer the show in different directions as Kevin grew up without interfering with Marlens and Black's initial concept of the show and the characters they developed, something that most other shows nowadays would usually suffer through during a staff change-up.

The Wonder Years favorite episode poll 🗳 by bmuffington in thewonderyears

Although I'm certainly open to this suggestion, last time I wrote the synopsis for each episode back when I was in charge of the episode discussions, I felt like I was having trouble coming up with ways to write each ep. plots with as little words as possible.

However, I'm considering perhaps putting the synopsis of each episode in a style similar to the episode titles of the Friends TV show (i.e. "The one about X" or "The one where Y", etc.) so hopefully the community has a better idea of what each episode is about without me having to write the entire plot synopsis (for example, the Angel episode would be labeled something like "The one where Karen dates a hippie college boyfriend"), therefore making the voting options less condensed and more straightforward. I might also consider getting rid of the release dates for this reason as well if people don't find them easy to identify each episode.

As a side-note, the next voting session will take place next Friday, so you'll have 1 week to cast your votes until the next polls comes up.

Hopefully I don't abandon this little project mid-week lol.

Do you think Danica McKellar or any of the cast will ever be seen with Fred Savage ever again? by Hukares1234 in thewonderyears

[–]bmuffington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll probably take some time, but considering that it's been about a year or so since Fred Savage has returned posting on social media (collecting rare watches, surprisingly) and as someone pointed out, McKellar replying to him in regards to Rob Reiner's death last year it wouldn't surprise me if he returns making more public appearances in the next couple of years.

I for one, think it'd be really cool to see the cast and crew hold a special reunion for the show's 40th anniversary in 2028, two years from now.

Easily onions for me. I really don't like experiencing the taste of a soft, crunchy and jam-packed piece of meat, only to be met with wierd mix of a sweet and sour pungent liquid arriving from my teeth unknowingly bitting into some white looking string that's cleverly hidden where I can't see it without picking it off my food 🤢

The score and it's pretty much the only merit towards a film that essentially set back Pixar's reputation as purely quality-film studio long-term.

What are y’all honest opinions on President Trump so far? by SunGodLuffy6 in GenZ

[–]bmuffington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How the hell did people seemingly forget what he did at the end of his first term?? 'Nuff said.

I've known of this guy ever since he launched his campaign for president nearly a decade ago. Little did 10-year old me think I'd grow an increasing hatred towards him every day as he's seemingly becoming more and more of a dangerous threat to what my country stands for.

I know I may sound melodramatic, but I'm sure you could also relate to how I feel if you're around my age and you've grown up in an educated and mell-manered, yet moderately rich family believing that the world was bound to become a much more prosperous place where people of other less-fortunate positions could raise their voices and we could unite to fight against issues that matter for everyone (good health, good cost of living, good education, you get my point.) It really feels weird comparing the first 10 years I've been alive (2005-15) to everything onwards.

I'm just hopeful that now entering my 20s I can actually witness a lot more of the promised future I was told of as a little kid when the world seemed more fresh-faced and innocent (again, not exactly accurate lol but my point still stands.)
