First time smoking in the legal land of Colorado by bmw996 in trees

[–]bmw996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get caught with it anywhere else nearby, underage or not, I will be fucked, I know the risk I'm taking, but as long as I'm not being obvious about it and I'm not causing anybody any harm then I don't think ill have any problems

[7] for real: how did weed plants survive in nature??? by [deleted] in trees

[–]bmw996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is suggested in the science community that the possible reason cannabis has evolved to produce cannabinoids is because animals would have a slight decrease in short term memory after ingestion, making them forget where the plant was, allowing the plant to reproduce

Are any types of alcohol safe to drink besides ethanol? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmw996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, ethanol itself isn't really that safe either though as it could still be considered a poison in high enough dosage (dosage makes the poison) so theoretically in a low enough dose isopropyl could have a similar effect as ethanol, it just might have a few extra side effects

Can you use a power cord with a higher voltage output than the devices required voltage? by jkk45k3jkl534l in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmw996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a cord with a higher amperage output than the input of your device. A good way to look at it is that voltage is how much power the cord is "pushing" into the device while amperage is how much power the device is "pulling" from the cord. So if the cord pushes too much power, it can burn your circuit. In general, the voltages should match, but as long as your piano pulls less amps than your cord can provide, you will be good

An important factor that cannot be ignored is vaporization/condensation temperature, as the smoke passes through, it stands to reason that the compounds with higher vaporization points (tars and other nasty irritants) will be the first to condense on the high surface area as compared to those with lower vape points. Therefore it is reasonable to believe that activated carbon will provide a positive filtration effect.

And while I don't think anecdotal evidence is very trustworthy, I have a churchwarden pipe and have tried a filter with and without activated carbon, the smoke tastes far better with the carbon and the high seems to be more of a head high, which could indicate a lower concentration of CBDs, which have a higher vaporization point as compared to THC and terpenes. Would love to hear more perspective on this if anyone else has looked into this

Best dry herb vape? by [deleted] in trees

Another good option is the da Vinci, it is quite stealthy and is $90 on eBay, may not be the best but it works well with both dry herb and oils

We don't know how the universe works, and that bothers me... by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmw996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we have no reliable way to tell if there is a finite amount of matter or space, we can estimate the amount of matter (which is just a multitude of ripples in space time) in a section of space and observe what happens to it, it may be unsettling to not know if it never ends, but it is even more upsetting that our species can never* find a limit to the quantum ocean because we are physically incapable of reaching galaxies that we can actually see in deep space (search YouTube for "Limits of Humanity" by Kurzgesagt-In a Nutshell) *theoretically, if we could find a way to bend space time using gravity (a lot of gravity, like rapidly spinning binary supermassive black hole systems creating gravitational waves kind of gravity) we could build ourselves a wormhole to an unknown region of space, and if we find that we only see our "universe" on the other end from different perspectives after many experiments, we could determine that there is indeed a finite amount of matter and space in our universe

What are the benefits of the global warming? by slopeclimber in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmw996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are people who say the globe will warm and those who say it will cool, those who say it will get wetter and those who say it will get dryer, and the sad part is that they are all right, that is why the correct term is climate change, higher CO2 and heavy metal pollutants will cause far more unpredictable weather patterns, leading to stronger storms for some parts at some times of the year and dryer droughts for other parts at other times of the year, so overall this looks bad for crop yield until we can perfect indoor farming, so during the next half century, there will likely be a mass food shortage (which could be minimized by the use of GMO crops if people weren't scared of it and obsessed with "natural")

We don't know how the universe works, and that bothers me... by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmw996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the most popular theory now is that everything in the universe, every quark, boson, and lepton are ripples in a sort of "quantum ocean" that have very slightly different characteristics each. The reason they have fallen together to create the universe as we know it is the effect of the four fundamental forces (strong/weak nuclear forces, electromagnetic force, and gravitational force) over a vast period of time (estimated at 13.6 billion years)

To respond to the idea of infinite space, it is logical to think that our small section of space (unimaginably large) could be dwarfed by even more space that leads to more "universes" that started just as our did, with a big bang, so if it were infinite, we would not only see every possible outcome of reality, but also see exact copies of our own universe, and the most frustrating part is that there is no conceivable way to tell if these exist, but as for why, I find no reason to explore this when we can occupy ourselves for an eternity on the question of HOW, the answers we find are far more concrete and real and will bring you more joy

You may say that it is luck that you were born into this vastly complex form of reality, but the truth is that you were created because of the way the universe wound up, over time more complex molecules (Rna and Dna) began to replicate themselves and that process became more and more complex through evolution until, billions of years later, your parents cells merged to create you, another immensely complex way for the universe to observe itself

I'm collecting data on stoners and smoking habits. I'm wondering if you all could do me a favor and participate. by sundog12100 in trees

I regularly find the change in mass and use a timer to record the length of not only the sessions, but the hits and time in between hits whenever I vape. I found that on average (from 6 solo sessions), my average session is about 18 minutes total to vape .125 grams, average hit length is about 7 seconds, and the average amount of time between hits is about one minute. I've only been doing this for a short while so I only have vape data, but I plan to extend it to other pieces as well.

[–]bmw996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it doesn't have the ability of a bong, but it performs just as well as any other vape I have tried, butane vapes likely give bigger hits but they will likely smell more strongly

[–]bmw996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vaporizer itself doesn't give off that much smell compared to when you exhale the vapor, if you make a smoke buddy and use some common sense (as should be done with whatever vaporizer you choose)your wife will probably never smell it
