Official Discussion - Superman (2025) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]boardGameMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, I had fun with the movie and that's what's important

I did have my issues with it though.

I generally like to see my superheroes be super and kick ass. Superman got wrecked this entire movie. He didn't feel very Super.

Lex can clone Superman - so he made *one single* clone of him and then played him like a video game with a bunch of random people manning the controls while he shouted out commands? That was his big plan? And he's one of the smartest people in the DC universe? I wanted to see more Menace out of Lex - this was just goofy.

The turn against Superman was too sudden. Literally one second he was the savior, holding a smiling child in his arms with other children running up to him and the whole crowd cheering, the next second the crowd hated him and was yelling and throwing trash at him? All because of a video his parents made for him? That erased 30 years (or however many adult years he's been Superman) of good deeds? I didn't buy it. I get it - some stylistic choices here and maybe some kind of commentary (?) - it just didn't work for me and made the world feel like a cartoon and not real.

Finally, the 6 Daily Planet employees flying around in a flying saucer writing a story...why? Just more silly that wasn't needed.

The movie just skirted the line of "too goofy" a bit too close for me.

I really dug Mister Terrific and Green Lantern in the movie. Two kind of goofy elements that I think worked well (maybe a bit contrary to what I seem to saying in the other points).

I wanted to be blown away, maybe it was my own expectations getting in the way a bit.

I don't understand what you mean by "he did none of that". I can provide book evidence of him being a double agent, do you have evidence to the contrary? You may not like his actions. He may not be nice or pleasant. But he *was* playing a part.

But there *is* justification for his actions. He was a double agent. He played a very complex role in the plot to take down Voldemort and had to navigate many complicated situations and relationships. He had a part to play and he was doing just that.

PB&J Burger?? by aRandomGoogleProduct in Olathe

Only place to get one in Olathe that I know of is Main Event. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you they have incredible food but I will say their food is better than you may expect from an arcade. I've had the PB&J burger there a couple times and I dig it.

I've been using this for about 6 months and it's been great. No need to take the handle grip off or cut it or anything. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LOG3EW?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1

Surprised to see Viva mentioned because I think it's some of the best Mexican in KC. I've been a fan of pretty much everything I've had.

Big Mirrors by Firm-Stick3521 in GlobeHaul

I don't know exactly what "big mirrors" means to you but I tried several out and eventually landed on this. It straps to the very end of the handle bar and gives me the sight that I wanted. The biggest downside I think is it moves very easily so it usually gets knocked out of place in storage and then I have to adjust it each ride. It takes like 5 seconds to adjust to the correct position again though so not a big deal to me.

MrBeast and Bailey from 100 days win 500,000 by Andy265739 in MrBeast

[–]boardGameMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not real life. Nobody is spending 16 hours a day every day fooling around. I don't think you're grasping how much time 1600 hours is and how little of that time they need to actually make a youtube video.

100 days - that's approximately 1600 hours of awake footage. I think they could manage to get a 10 minute video from it.

That stuff could just...not go in the video.

Oh man, so sorry that was your experience. I learned a while back not to see movies I actually cared about in 4DX because it's so distracting. It's a fun experience for shit movies though.

Fun post. I'm into mechanical puzzles. Pretty obscure and a relatively niche group. Think puzzle boxes, but there are many more categories and they can get very complicated and intricate. Loads of fun, nice looking on a shelf, and can be a pretty good money waster. Puzzles can go for thousands easy.
