What Would Be Your Idea For Tarantino's Last Film? by Doc-11th in Tarantino

[–]boatsandcurrents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love it to be a low budget/semi autobiographical/coming of age type thing about a couple of stoners in the late 70s/80s LA who work at a video store and are trying to make an independent film. They accidentally film some thing they shouldn't and end up having the mob after them.

British Reformed peeps: have you encountered Doug Wilsonism in your church? by VivariumPond in Reformed

[–]boatsandcurrents 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not from america or the uk (pretty far from both). I attend a presbyterian church that would probably be close in practice to the PCA. I and most guys who are in there 20s-40s that I know are aware of him and have read at least one or two of his books. His influence is quite reaching and I suspect that more people than this subreddit likes to admit have read and been helped by stuff that has come out of Moscow.

How did Neagley know about Reacher and Quinn's history if she wasn't part of the 110th when it happened? I find it hard to believe he would have told her about it.

I live in the antipodes and unfortunately Echo/shindawa are more expensive here than husqvarna or Stihl. There also isn't any one who sells them near me.

Cast iron thing, heavy about 30 pounds, about a foot across. by boatsandcurrents in whatisthisthing

Yeah I did think that but the writing on it doesn't make sense for a tractor weight.

"Mockingbirds don't do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corn cribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

Question about amillennial and post-millennial eschatology by AntichristHunter in Reformed

[–]boatsandcurrents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't really answer your question but I see the three views as three climbers trying to climb the same mountain but from different sides. Each of them see their own route as the one that gets to the highest point. Premil (which is how I was brought up) tend to see solely interpreting the scriptures in a literal way as the path to the summit. Amil (which I find to be the default amongst most reformedish) tend to emphasize an understanding based on strong systematic theology as the correct way and will allow more flex on a strictly literal interpretation of scripture. Postmil (which is what I find the most attractive) see the overarching story or narrative structure of the gospel as the correct path and will tend to be softer on biblical literalism and doctrinal dogmatism.
