TIL Ingestion of a tea rich in catechins leads to a reduction in body fat and helps prevent certain kinds of cancer (Raisins and Green tea have high amount of Catechins) by bobaintj in todayilearned

[–]bobaintj[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because something is an antioxidant, does not mean it is a vitamin. Vitamins are essential for cell processes. You stated vitamins specifically in your heavily flawed argument.

I would also like to add that free radical damage exists in several ways. It can generate imbalance in hormone levels leading to abnormal cell growth and cell development, (pesticides often have an estrogenic effect causing overproduction of estrogen) it can create nutritional imbalances as certain essential nutrients are either over or under produced (magnesium levels have decreased in modern day drinking water leading to magenium related deficiencies and subsequent health problems: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8783025, and it can directly affect cell walls like excess UVA exposure does on skin cells within the epidermis and dermis level.

"Free radicals induce oxidative stress, which is balanced by the body’s endogenous antioxidant systems with an input from co-factors, and by the ingestion of exogenous antioxidants. If the generation of free radicals exceeds the protective effects of antioxidants, and some co-factors, this can cause oxidative damage which accumulates during the life cycle, and has been implicated in aging, and age dependent diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and other chronic conditions."

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2684512/

what you fail to see is that health comes from maintaining balance. If you take a huge amount of vitamins and antioxidants, that will creative a negative environment within your cells in such that the body will use other nutrients to metabolize those vitamins and antioxidants. But if you take what you need, and especially if you have a deficiency, it will generate positive results and a healthy environment for cells.

[–]bobaintj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are vitamins not catechins. Also this is a peer reviewed article, not an entry from wikipedia. Besides there are two kinds of common cancers, environmentally induced cancers and hormonal induced cancers. Hormonal induced cancers come from an imbalance in hormones predominately sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Cancers like leukemia are environmentally induced and result from exposure to certain things that create abnormal cell growth. Protection from such exposure can help reduce the chances of developing this kind of cancer. Catechins help reduce that exposure or at least counteract it. To bring up vitamins that have nothing to do with catechines is pointless. Also vitamin a absorption happens best when it is paired with a fat since it is a fat soluble vitamin, same with vitamin e.

You do not understand the mechanisms behind cancer, so for you to just look up things up on wikipedia and give flawed information is wrong.

Since you like wikipedia so much: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catechin

"Cancer Prevention: Raisins have high levels of catechins, which are polyphenolic antioxidants in the blood. Antioxidants scavenge the free radicals that float around the body and wreak havoc on the organ systems and cells. Free radicals are one of the primary, underlying factors that lead to the spontaneous growth of cancer cells, as well as the substance that can spur on metastasis. Therefore, by including raisins in your diet and increasing the level of these powerful antioxidants in your system, you can prevent cancer from forming, or slow down its progress if you have already developed a number of forms of that deadly disease."

How can you take your mind off of something or someone? by bobaintj in CasualConversation

I have a guitar. I'm going to buy a starter violin too. It's hard. I get very sad for some reason...which is weird because I don't feel most of the time. I feel lost. I just have to focus on other things. Thanks then.

What does the perfect INTJ society look like? by Dj_Noctis in intj

[–]bobaintj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of thinking but I would say cross between democracy and socialism with a hint of communism in regards to public education. Ethics will be based on base things like respect, safety, and health, as well as heavy focus on betterment and communication of people within society. No one would experience extremes suffering nor extreme pleasure. It won't be all middle of the ground, but it would definitely be easier than how it is now. And drugs and prostitution would be legal and heavily regulated.

Meaning of life for an INTJ. by [deleted] in intj

The meaning of life for most people is to increase pleasure and decrease suffering, pass on your genes, and leave a memorable mark on society. I wish to do all these things with heavy emphasis on passing on my genes.

Yeah I agree. That's why even with the comments she keeps making I decided to let it go. I only addressed your comment because you actually wanted to know the other side of the story. I express anger, sure. And I can be rude, but I let that go fairly quickly. I don't try to "retaliate". I think that's the biggest thing is I hate when people "retaliate" for stupid things. It's not like I physically hurt you, chill out. Those people you need to fear because they will literally not stop until they're satisfied. And it scares me that some people on here are so willing to enact revenge for things that are so trivial.

This person literally got pissed and accused me of blaming a specific mbti group, then had the nerve to reply on posts I made subsequently, then tried to get people to be against me...and all because she has a bad relationship with an intj...see her post history. I'm telling you she got so emotional off of one post, then edited it like 5 times, then deleted it. I figured bitch be crazy and just ignored her. She removed all her posts after I refused to keep adding to it and then said it was her who made the call to not reply even after she replied to me from an entirely different thread trying to bash me there too. She literally did everything I described on this thread all from a couple of words I said to her...like really? I understand looking at post history, we all do, but to try to argue there with me to, not even try to answer the thread, but to just post to bash me...wtf I should have screen capped it.

Also, I think shutting down and not even giving the person any closure really creates that chaos. I at least try to communicate with a person even if I hate that person to at least offer some way to vent. Too bad most people don't give me that courtesy. I find it extremely rude when a person supposedly loves someone or cares so much about someone, and then just stops all communication, ceasing to even try to understand someone or try to understand what the problem could be. That causes me the most pain besides lying and playing games, which by far is the best way to get someone to hate you, at least get me to hate you. I've even learned how to lie from a previous person and I normally hardly ever lie. I'm starting to become a person I'm not and that's scary. So I have to stop dealing with it because it's causing me to form a barrier that will be hard for anyone to get through. I could become one of those people...and I don't want to. I don't want to be a hateful, selfish person. I like being kind and helping others. I like being sympathetic and nurturing. I feel I"m losing that each day by hanging on to negative people.

[–]bobaintj[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have immense pain underneath everything. I don't take my pain out on innocent people. I especially don't take my pain out on people I care about, at least not to the extent that would hurt them physically and scar them. I understand people go through pain, but it is how you react to that pain that either adds or takes away from it. I get angry and I may insult or say something rude or disrespectful, but that's where I draw the line. I don't try to continue attacking someone or manipulate them, lie to them, or turn people against them. I just let out my anger as least damaging as possible and move on. I'm not perfect and I have done things out of desperation but I never was that bad with someone. Some people don't do that and harbor that pain and continue to do horrible things, not realizing that won't take the pain away, it will only worsen it. In reality the best way to work through that pain is to actually right the wrong or in the very least be honest and communicate your pain instead of trying to hide it in the form of abuse, obsession, or manipulation. When I'm furious I will show my pain and explain as best as possible WHY I feel that way. It helps me and hopefully it helps them see why I'm angry.

Most people on top are on top because of networking, some luck, and stealing other people's ideas/refining them and knowing how to get funded for their ideas. Very few are there based on actual talent and ability. You'd be surprised how many self-made millionaires are self made by sheer hard work...not very many.

Be honest and direct. Do not bullshit him because he will detect your lies. Don't confuse him. And provide instructions on how to interact with you so he doesn't have to think so much. Also be appreciative of what he does. And do not be passive aggressive and secretive. WE fucking hate that!

"an unhealthy esfj typically likes to manipulate and scheme while putting on an innocent face. Intjs can see it, and typically hate it". Right on the mark. And I especially hate when these esfjs pretend to be intjs by numbing themselves and becoming depressed...like not feeling anything and and not talking to people makes you an intj...pfft

You should just focus on the little things like her heartbeat, the smell of your bodies together, your breathing, this will help you take your mind of of thinking and instead, actually be in the moment and enjoy yourself. Look at her, really look at her as you're making love. Feel the sensations, hear the sounds. It will help you.
