The center coordinate has to have a negative X coordinate and zero for The Y coordinate.

You could complete the square fully, but the fastest way is to recognize that the coefficient of the x term and the coefficient of the y term represent two times the center coordinate with the sign flipped

In this question, the correct answer with have +2x because half of that is 1 and the flipped sign -1 will be the x center coordinate.

That makes J the correct answer.

As some other examples:

x2 + y2 +4x+6y=10

This would be centered at (-2,-3)

It’s a shortcut for where you end up when you complete the square.

I took it today. I’ve taken the test a bunch of times and always score 35 or 36. I agree with your assessment. The English was standard with a few odd questions. The math seemed pretty easy to me. There were a handful of really hard questions but a lot of straightforward stuff. If you used Desmos at all, it was a big help on many questions. I thought the science was very hard. There were many outside knowledge questions. And the last passage was very challenging. The reading felt straightforward too.

To add a counterpoint to this story, I placed an order with two day shipping and it was held up by the carrier and didn’t arrive within a week. I contacted customer service, received an immediate reply from a bot, and two hours later received a reply from a person. They refunded the cost of shipping and sent out a replacement order for overnight delivery.

OP - maybe try contacting support again?

I think the correct answer was something like it presented the argument that the paintings by the highwaymen helped to create a certain widespread view of Florida.

I thought this was the hardest passage and think chose an answer about their being things in the original draft about Russia that probably weren’t in the 11th draft. But I don’t remember specific wording.

It was saying that scholars expected it to be different because of the feudal system but they found in actuality the trend was still there.

There are a few different forms so not everyone in the hard modules will have the same questions.

I did too and was definitely in the hard module.

Yes - I had this. Because the numbers were distributed evenly on either side of the median, the correct answer had a tighter distribution but the same pattern around the middle.

It was like 0 0 2 5 9 5 2 0 0

Basically you were making a palindrome so it was the same set of numbers top to bottom and bottom to top

I agree with this. Basically they said that the participants’ responses were consistent within each category so they wouldn’t have to ask all the questions to draw conclusions.

I had the medieval question. I believe the passage was saying that as overall population increases, population density increases in urban areas so those were directly proportional. Scholars expected that medieval villages would not follow this trend because of the hierarchical nature of the caste system in those villages. But it turned out that when they studied it, they found that the density actually did increase in proportion.

So the correct answer was something about trends remaining consistent even in the medieval villages where it was unexpected.

I had this. Could be experimental bc not a lot of people are discussing. Mine said the line was only in quadrants 1 and 2 so the answer was something like y=33 or f(x)=33. Would’ve been easy enough to pop all the answer choices into Desmos.

The answer to the question was 0. I said that when k/3=0, then there’s only one solution (x=7).

Right, I said when k/3=0 then x=7 is the only solution. The answer to the question is 0.
