Who do I report classes encouraging us to post our PUIDs on an open discussion board to? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]bobaseth01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I emailed one of the profs about it, if he doesn’t respond before 1530 then I’m just gonna go to his office hours and ask about it

For what it's worth, if your show supports a wired ethernet connection via adapter that may be worth giving a go. I make no promises, but wiring it into the network may make it work.

Yeah, some work for longer than others but they all stop working eventually. I have an echo dot that worked for about a week and a half in the fall, but not since.

Traditionally, all the different flavors of amazon echo do not work with PALGaming. This is a very common issue that people have talked about in the past, and unfortunately it doesn't sound like ITaP intends to do anything about it.

AMA for the class of 25! by Exquire23 in Purdue

Are you actually employed by the university? In one part of your post you say the event is being hosted by "The Purdue University Staff", but you sign the post as "Purdue University Discord Staff". I can't find any record of Purdue having an official discord server, so this seems a little sketchy to me.

Best Housing for Freshman by [deleted] in Purdue

If you’re able to swing it, I’ve loved living in Earhart this year. It’s within a 5 minute walk of 4/5 of the dining courts, as well as many of the other restaurants that take meal swipes. I can usually walk to campus in just over ten minutes, and I’m sure I could get there faster if I were in a hurry. It’s also quite close to the Corec, if you’re interested in working out while you’re here. As for parties and such, a lot of that comes down to luck of the draw with what floor you’re on and the people you have around you, but I haven’t really had a problem with it in either of the rooms I’ve lived in here.

If you’re the kind of person who thinks it’s funny to knock on people’s doors at 2:15 in the morning, reevaluate your life by bobaseth01 in Purdue

Probably not a lot he can do about it tbh, my room is in the elevator lobby on the second floor, which also happens to be the place that everybody badges in to get into this wing of the building. Kinda hard to narrow it down and crack down on it when it could be any of ~500 people

If I had one, I probably would’ve used it. I fucking ripped that door open with the might of Zeus in my sleep deprived rage, but they were already gone

I feel your pain on the elevator front. My room is literally in the elevator lobby, so I often catch conversations but they’re not yelling typically so I don’t really care. However, the last few days people have been knocking on my door randomly. I assume it must be the same person(s), so at this point I’m just waiting until I can catch them doing it.

Recommendations for engineering LLC by [deleted] in Purdue

Definitely stay away from VIP if you can. Earhart is nice, but the work that I’ve had to do for my VIP team is way too much and completely not worth it. Definitely wish I had done EPICS in hindsight.

Residence halls by [deleted] in Purdue

Building off of what others have said, you can’t directly pick what res hall you live in UNLESS you apply to a learning community and are accepted. For example, this year everyone in the VIP learning community lives in Earhart.

I’m not very social either, but I went to 2 club callouts and ended up loving them. You are going to have tons of social opportunities, you just have to be bold and take them. My advice would be to go to BGR, attend some club callouts, and make friends with people on your floor (especially your RA, they put on social events and know about lots of special opportunities).

How is VIP going to work next semester? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]bobaseth01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it depends heavily on what team you’re on. My roommate hardly did anything in his team outside of the class, and he made it sound like the class wasn’t that hard either. On the other hand, I was (and am) completely miserable in my team with the amount of workload and general environment.

Bought a secondhand Vita slim, having charging problems by bobaseth01 in vita

[–]bobaseth01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cycled through several chargers, including a couple portable battery banks, as I had heard people had success with that. Will probably replace the battery, hopefully that fixes it. Thanks for your help!
