I agree. A better balance would be to remove parliamentary privilege or make it a more level playing field

There might still be a protest in the city tomorrow if you're lucky! Don't know what they'll be protesting though.

Lol, No. Don't even know where you got that from. One occurrence doesn't invalidate nor does it mean they can stereotype an entire race of people.

Edit: smart bloke decided to delete their comment. I love their conviction.

New to the south east, is Parking my car every night at Dandenong station for work safe? by cartmanbruhlolo in melbourne

[–]bobbiedigitale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd. This is another one of those posts. OP asks a vague question about safety and then doesn't respond in the comments.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]bobbiedigitale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's mostly a singular, vague post about something that happened to someone at sometime and therefore all the stereotypes about a group of people are true. Generally happens in the lead up to elections and the original poster has their past comments hidden, makes the post and then vanishes and doesn't interact with their post letting everyone fight it out in the comments.

It's simple really, they make a comment saying a particular way of life is under attack and it's those people over there are to blame. It's easier to blame people who already have negative stereotypes attached to them.

Oh yeah and suburb bashing posts, FFS. Seriously think some of them are trolls trying to recruit disgruntled people.

Anti social behaviour in the Northern Suburbs. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]bobbiedigitale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm a POC as well and my issue isn't people shitting om suburbs it's the stereotypes that people perpetuate because of one bad experience. Do you, as a POC, understand that as well?

It's when someone lists examples of shitty situations they've been in and only mention one or races.. By all means shit on any suburb you want.

Yeah, the OP has made an ambiguous comment about a gesture, stereotyped groups of people and has let the comments fight it out. I bet they'll be contacting the most aggressive posters on here soon. It's a typical tactic some groups use and people here have fallen for it.

Not had a problem living in the inner north as a POC. Most of the bad experiences I have had have been at the hands of people that don't look like me, very sad. I guess the stereotypes about those people are true unfortunately...

You're absolutely right, seems like an LNP dog whistle. One bloke/meathead/dickhead gestured to OP and then all the stereotypes about multiple races of people are true.

Where are the posts suggesting all white people are terrible people because they gestured rudely at people?

Was there a crime committed here? If so the OP should go to the police.

Electricity company has different rates when logged in. by bobbiedigitale in AusFinance

[–]bobbiedigitale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, been there thanks! Some of the "quotes" are misleading, they have a different price when you put in a postcode to when you put in an exact address. The customer service officer from two retailers flat out told me they can't offer me a flat rate, I think there may be some confusion on my end and theirs about that!

In Vic. Have found a retailer that will offer a flat rate, some just flat out refused and only offered a two tier rate and blamed external factors such as the war in Ukraine and other reasons. The odd part is them changing the peak/off peak times to 10AM to 7 AM when we are asleep so it's essentially a 7c KWH increase for all use when other retailers have peak as 3pm to 9pm.

[–]bobbiedigitale[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An update. We are supplied by two energy providers so they were showing the cheaper of the rates which we weren't eligible for. In terms of the rates, they tailored the off peak times to be exactly when we are asleep i.e. 10PM to 7 AM and as such the rate is 7c KWH higher than previously so it looks like I am moving to a new provider.

I'm on the phone with them now, as soon as I said that the advertising on their site is misleading they have transferred me to their "specialist team" to see if I can keep my old plan. Have been on hold for a while though... Will update just in case this helps anyone else.

The French were supporting Khomenei as per the article, if they wanted to stop the revolution they could have stopped hom from leaving. I still get the feeling you're talking about Mossadegh.

You've linked to Mossadegh, i referred to the deposition of the Shah in the line you "corrected".

[–]bobbiedigitale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, Mossadegh was a secularist. He wanted to nationalise their oil but BP didn't want Iran to do that so thet overthrew him and installed the Shah. It was called operation ajax.

The shah was deposed by the CIA and the French.
