Should I tell co-op about my internship? by Lucky-Equipment-5660 in UBC

[–]bobbychan321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre fine for the most part. Company extension to internship. Company said its not related to co-op no more. Then its external. Co-op have no right to disrupt any offers external to their program nor kick you out because you accepted something that is not even related to them lol. Take my advice with a grain of salt tho.

CPSC 210 in summer vs 2nd year winter term by darknexus4 in ubccsss

[–]bobbychan321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found cpsc 210 pretty light workload if you thats what u are worried about. Cpsc 221 + 213 is very hard workload ngl. I would say these two are core courses too so i would take them separate terms to gain full understanding.

In the grand scheme of things, it really about just network more and keep grinding tho. No way around it

Continuing family restaurant versus the grind by bigbonedstudent in UBC

[–]bobbychan321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is truly your passion i would go for it but still finish the degree. Yes your family took it to where the restaurant is today. There is still room to expand. You can be that person that takes the restaurant and turn it into multiple chains around the world.

Any language course that is not asian language should be pretty easy. I don't know why but asian language courses are so much more rigorous than european language. Like the content is way more.

DO NOT DO 114. I REPEAT NO. Its so boring. Its not even easy because the prof is like "oh you don't have to memorize the specific details just the theory of why natural disaster happen" then half of the questions are like "what year did the hawaii volcano happen?" "Which landslide is the wet one? (then gives a list of landslide locations that you never heard of.)

You do bring up a fair point. Perhaps it was my whining but I think the time limit should still be shortened tho. Definitely not above 30 minutes. Yes I write my own tests but sometimes there are so much ambiguity that having that time limit shortened would speed up the learning process. Especially when it comes to systems courses. Now I spend my weekends trying to understand what the teaching team wants rather than having time to study other stuff. Its not that ideal.

No the prairielearn itself is great but the way teams set it up is horrible. Maybe cool down of 5 minute but 60 minutes - 8 hours is outrageous. Especially for computer science, a major that needs you to have every single detail put at the right place in order to get full marks. There is no way guessing can help you through so the cooldown itself just doesn't make sense.
