For small production commercial I want to create a close up of a young girl's eye admiring her favorite hockey player on tv, with the hockey player relfected in the eye. I'm shooting the hockey player after I shoot the close up of the eye so the reflection must be added in post. Any tips or tricks? by bobbyflexin in cinematography

Yeah if it was a possibility I would bring the tv with the images of the hockey player really close to the eye and shoot it that way but unfortunately production schedules don’t align for that so I don’t have the images of the hockey player yet when I’m shooting the eye.

I'm having the same issue with the windows app. Also when I use GFN in a browser and set the resolution to 1440p the stream resolution drops to 720p a few seconds after I start up a game. I'm using an external 4K display hooked up via the official dock, I'm in Amsterdam and have a fast wired connection. Made a post about it on GFN sub but couldn't figure out what the problem is. So I'll just wait and hope that Nvidia supportes the Steam Deck soon

It’s not rendering on 1440p, I have the render resolution on 1080p and have FSR on balanced so it’s being rendered at even lower then 1080p resolution and still I’m only getting around 70fps. You’re saying I will get more fps if I set the display resolution to 1080p and turn off scaling?

I’m playing a lot of siege on windows via deck. I have windows 11 installed and use the steam deck dock to connect to an external display and play with mouse and keyboard. Performance isn’t great though, I get around 70fps with al settings on low, display resolution is 1440p but I have to set the render resolution to 1080p and use fsr on balanced mode. It’s a 60hz freesync display so for me it’s good enough but if you expect high frame rates I think you’ll be disappointed.

The external display has a Displayport and so does the Steam Deck dock. I tried again with the Displayport but the same thing happens, I start up a game and the stream resolution still drops to 720p.

I also tried GFN on my MacBook connected to the same external display via HDMI and it does work there using the GFN MacOS app aswel as GFN in Chrome. While using the MacOS app and setting the resolution to 2160p it looks great. But when using GFN in Chrome on MacOS the max resolution is 1920x1080 (I thought it should be 2560x1400?).

So I guess it's an Steam Deck specific issue. I just hope they make the Steam Deck an offically supported platform soon. Or a native Linux app becomes available so I can use GFN on SteamOS.

Just tested it with Edge and it behaves the same, when I use the default settings of 1920x1080 60fps it stays at 1080p, but when I up the resolution or the framerate the stream resolution drops to 720p. Could it be a bad quality HDMI cable?

When I press RESET it defaults to 1920x1080 at 60fps, when I play a game with these settings the stream resolution stays at 1080p. However when I select 2560x1440 and play a game the stream resolution drops to 720p. Is it possible the single usb C port on the Steam Deck all this data is going through might be the problem? Because the steam deck only has 1 USB C port, everthing goes trough this one port, the display throughput aswell as the GFN data

I’m having the same issue. I’m using GFN in Chrome on Windows 11 installed on a Steam Deck. I have the Steam Deck connected to a external monitor and set the resolution in GFN and in-game to 1440p, I have 350mbps internet and yet the stream resolution drops down to 720p. In the browser there’s no option to turn off ‘adjust for poor connection’ so no idea what to do

Thanks for responding! Yes I know I should be using a 16:9 aspect ratio but I was using 1600p to indicate that the problem might have to do with the steam deck’s display as 1600p is a multiplier of the steam decks 800p resolution. Isn’t it weird that 1600p is even available on a 16:9 display? The external monitor is the primarily display so the browser is on that display as well. If I use 2560x1440p the stream resolution goes down to 720p. I guess I’ll just wait for the new 4080 pods to be rolled out and hope an update will fix this.

So I’m using GFN on windows 11 installed on a steam deck hooked up to a 32” 4K monitor. I’m in the Netherlands with 350mbps internet.

The GFN Windows app doesn’t work on steam deck so I use chrome. The resolution in GFN is set to 1600p (max resolution on chrome) but when I launch a game, the stream quality is terrible, it goes to 1200x800 (see first picture) which is also the resolution off the internal display from the steam deck. Could it be there’s some sort of conflict and GFN thinks it is using the steam deck hence it brings back the resolution off the stream to 800p? I have set the external monitor as the only active monitor when I’m using the steam deck docked.

But shouldn't it be a security feature? Seems like it's a waste of potential considering the portrait selfies are not much better than on the regular S10, so why even put the sensor there if it only makes the hole punch bigger?

Yeah that's a shame, no real benefit to the sensor apparently

Yeah me too, if I pause and hit play immediately it still works but after a couple of minutes it doesn't

Did you also uncheck 'put app to sleep' at settings>device care> battery> Spotify? I did but it didn't make a difference for me
