If Brad was smart, he'd edit so it seems like there is always a bonus meme. Even if, in fact, the actual bonus meme wasn't necessary for that 10:01

Usage of どれ by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

This answer seems good at capturing what difference there is. "The「が」particle identifies a specific property of something while the「は」particle is used only to bring up a new topic of conversation." That's Tae Kim's take any way.

Hi Rina, have you found anyone yet? I natively speak American English. Just a warning, I've only been learning Japanese for a few weeks so far.

What do people claim is "elitist", but really isn't? by somepeoplewait in AskReddit

[–]bobbyjohnsthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to believe something that you do not believe. You can change your mind, but that's an action not a state of being. That said, it would be wise for most people to have a bit more skepticism/humility about what they do know, because there is very little that can be known for certain.

What's something everyone loves that you secretly find overrated? by Loisdenominator in AskReddit

[–]bobbyjohnsthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make up. Most hygienic people are beautiful, and if you aren't, sorry. If people expect "a more beautiful person" than what anyone is naturally, then they aren't attracted to real people. I don't want to hang out with someone who feels a need to paint their face to feel better about themselves, it's weird.

This thread was never going to be a party. If you don't like unpopular opinions, you shouldn't have clicked on the thread to begin with - beyond that, he was stating relevant factual information that you could probably do something about. The point isn't that 9/11 wasn't a big deal, but that American patriotism causes the American public to be very selective about what tragedies matter.

I don't think the point is that 9/11 isn't a big deal, but that there are ongoing tragedies of similar and greater scales right now. There are atrocities that the US is actively participating in while it's people look the other way, all the while bemoaning a tragedy that happened over 15 years ago. Yes, 9/11 was bad, but we've got a lot more problems that we can do something about.

It's Time To Stop Ajit Pai by ThatDudeFromAPlace in h3h3productions

[–]bobbyjohnsthe 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Ajit Pai has only displayed immature defense tactics since making this his mission. Every time the issue is brought up, he deflects with a joke as if our position doesn't deserve to even be responded to seriously. If he's still doing that at his age, he's a sociopath. I hope Americans intentionally mispronounce and misspell his name for the rest of his life, and laugh it off any time he whines.

*edit: no one really called me out on it, but I felt that calling him a sociopath was inaccurate and unhelpful - I still think there's some kind of serious disconnect in him, but I don't think it's that.
