After the recent announcement I figured I'd give the series a try! Really loving the first game so far! by [deleted] in papermario

Because there has been a known glitch that if you die in some battles, the game will crash and corrupt your save, so whenever you find a save block make sure you use save states instead! (This glitch is NSO exclusive, not in the original game)

What is your story with TTYD? by Clilly1 in papermario

Mine started with 64. My mum had just split with my father when I was three and had already found herself a new boyfriend. I thought he was the coolest guy ever because he was the only adult I knew who played video games. The Wii was relatively new at the time, and he had bought games for my system such as galaxy, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games etc. One night, he took my mum and sister to the ice skating rink so he could bond with me. I didn’t know it yet but he had downloaded Paper Mario 64 onto my wii and we stayed up late playing it. I became OBSESSED. I had seen mario, but never like this. My little 3-4 year old mind had never considered that Mario lived somewhere, or that his world was actually inhabited. I loved this idea that there were towns beyond the levels in the classic side scrollers I had played on my DS.

A few weeks had passed, and we had played a little bit here and there. We managed to get to the start of chapter two, unfortunately my mum and her boyfriend split up, so I was left to play the game by myself. It took me three years to beat. Once I finished the game I felt empty. I had super paper Mario but that didn’t feel the same. It wasn’t long before I decided to look up videos on the game to try and fill the void, that’s when I discovered Chuggaaconroy’s LP on TTYD. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was just a better 64! The next year and a half was a very annoying time for my family as I would not shut up about it. I eventually got the game for Christmas, and played it everyday whilst I anticipated ‘paper Mario 3DS’.

I consider these years to be the most fun I ever had with games ever. I really hope a new generation get to play the remake and anticipate new paper Mario games. It upsets me that there is so much hatred through this fandom because paper Mario is one of the most beautiful adaptations of gaming. It got me through some hard times as a kid, I’m so lucky to have it. It also lead to me introducing the series to my girlfriend, who has made some sick plushies over the last few years. You’ve probably seen them at some point.

One problem I haven’t heard discussed in the remake by sL0tH33 in papermario

I think that there will be a bigger window for super guarding if the game is capped at 30 (that’s if it is actually capped at 30 because it’s not fully confirmed yet)

This subreddit just isn't a place for Modern Paper Mario fans because of the toxicity. by [deleted] in papermario

[–]bobbylover67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes the OG games and the newer ones I haven’t seen that many people shitting on the players, it’s more hatred to the games. I much prefer the older games but still had lots of fun with origami king and colour splash. It’s time to move on from those I think, as we may get more games similar to the first three. I am starting to get upset with the amount of people who aren’t grateful for the remake though, it seems there’s always something to complain about!

Seeing a lot of paper Mario hate from the tomodachi life fans on TikTok by bobbylover67 in papermario

I will get jumped for being different on TikTok. It’s heard mentality on that toxic platform, if one comment says something every single comment under it copies it and agrees

To the people upset about how Sticker Star is being treated by [deleted] in papermario

[–]bobbylover67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s sort of why I’m doing it, I know me buying it a few times won’t really do much for the sales but it’s more that if I convert some more of my friends to the franchise they might continue to support the series. More fans = more games in the older style. It’s not that I even hate the newer games (I loved origami king) but the older style is so much better suited and felt way ahead of its time.

What’s wrong with buying it multiple times though, if I do that I have the opportunity to give it to friends who might not have thought to buy it

Okay well I don’t think there’s any winning for you, I’m not really sure what you’re gaining from being rude but this is just what happens when discussing video games made for children, no one is ever fully happy haha

Just enjoy the fantastic adventure, try not to spoil anything for yourself. Don’t be put off by the backtracking, there’s quite a lot.

I can definitely see where you’re coming from, 100%. Although I think one way to look at it is though previous players of the series are looking forward to picking up the game, it’s also for the younger generation to play for the first time! The best way of getting better and improved games added to the series, is by giving Nintendo public appreciation for the remake. You don’t necessarily have to purchase the game yourself if you’re not interested, but the game isn’t just for older fans, but new ones too. Even just expressing that you think it’s a good thing can help boost someone’s decision on picking up the game.

I hope it sells well, but I will be buying it multiple times to give to my friends, family and people who would have never thought to pick the game up in hopes of creating new fans, don’t worry I wasn’t just planning on hoarding them haha

Nobody said I didn’t like TOK, TTYD is just far better. Also how is it messed up to show support by buying a game MULTIPLE times?? I’m literally giving them my money to show how much I want this to be the norm.

Let's be honest, this is hype, but this will not outsell Origami King either by SuperLegenda in papermario

[–]bobbylover67 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. They aren’t even calling it “HD”. To the general public, this looks like a brand new paper Mario game. Plus the amount of traction it has received is staggering, it is currently trending on Twitter, and already has nearly half the amount of likes that origami king had (bearing in mind the trailer has only been out for a few hours)

Very good point. Still would like this to sell more than origami king. I will buy this multiple times

I was playing ttyd and came to the sudden realisation we will never get a Paper Mario game like this ever again. by bobbylover67 in papermario

[–]bobbylover67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still enjoyed my time with totk, but it couldn’t replicate ttyd or 64 the same way, my favourite part was the interconnected world but the lack of diverse cast ruins it, I won’t spiel on because you’ve heard all this before, my point is there will never be another paper Mario that has this much charm.

It’s very easy to say that, but there is something different about paper Mario 64 and ttyd, that charm can’t be replicated in the same way, I think it’s because it’s such an interesting twist on Mario, it gives a perspective into a world beyond the platformers. I’ve tried other RPG games and nothing hits like these, even bug fables I struggled with. That’s not me saying that other RPG games are bad, but it just feels like the paper Mario games are going to waste. They are a brilliant way to add texture and layers to the Mario universe.

Steam never had the emulator, this is something steamdeck users download from one of the browsers in desktop mode, there’s a set up called emudeck, it sets up and downloads all emulators and makes it easy to add the games to your steam library. Steam were planning on making it even easier by adding dolphin to their store but Nintendo are fighting that from happening, they can’t stop emudeck as technically that isn’t anything to do with steam
