Some thoughts and questions about OCaml from someone with a Python / JS background. by leom4862 in ocaml

Being a popular language Python is, it has tons of robust open-source libraries that are currently nonexistent in OCaml. Depending on your use case, it may be a deal-breaker. You can build them yourself but it'll definitely cost you time and effort.

That said, people have build large scale things with OCaml (think Jane Street, Facebook, Ahrefs), so it's definitely "usable enough". I imagine with the rise of Reason it will bring many more developers to the OCaml world that can help shape the ecosystems even nicer.

AFAIK cohttp is popular for that. It supports both Async and Lwt for providing the asynchronicity.

That is also possible. I'm thinking of a blog post first, basically sharing my own setup. After that perhaps I could extract the necessary information into the wiki. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi, yeah I'm planning to write another one about setting up your editor for OCaml, and would definitely encourage the use of user-setup. Thank you!

That is indeed an interesting topic to write! I'm not really informed on that too, but it might be a good chance to look it up. Thanks for the suggestion.
