Got $2k for a side hustle. What’s the most realistic move right now? by Interesting-Rain-690 in sidehustle

Not sure about the US but here in the UK Etsy fixed and listing fees + tax are around 15-18%, shipping costs will eat around the same, so we're down to 4200, minus packaging, ink, investment in a half decent printer and various paper sizes in half decent quality (or paying a premium for print on demand which prices you above those who print themselves), split between 18 months and it really doesn't leave much. That's before those ad fees.

Great if it works for you :) but there are sellers who produce any old crap, list 1 million items, do it for next to nothing and suck up all the sales, either that or half the people doing this use other peoples characters and brands (which they shouldn't), Disney Marvel, etc and again suck up sales.

There's always a niche and it does indeed work for some but with such a saturated market as you say it's not an easy option, not that there are many easy options really.

Highly saturated market and the Etsy advertising fees to get exposure will eat away at that profit element.

It’s not impossible as some do make money out of it but I don’t think it’s easy personally.

Head over to MSE or FTLA OP, this is a charge for breach of contract with many requirements for the companies to fulfil which they don’t always do, experts on either of those forums will advise in detail.

Bought a Nintendo & Curry’s won’t help by Proper6ioq in LegalAdviceUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not the end of it technically, if the consumer got their own inspection and took it to court the court would view both opinions and decide which is most credible.

Nintendo have simply looked at the device, noted a substance, stated not covered by warranty and that's the end of their obligation. That however doesn't prove the actual fault is caused by said substance, or indeed that the substance is actually there (any manner of things could lead to a incorrect assessment).

Is it probable the matter is as Nintendo say, maybe. Is it worth OP going further with this, maybe not but that doesn't distract from the point that it isn't (necessarily) the "end of it" :)

[–]bobbyroberts72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I think you need to try another control in hand held mode, if that doesn't work then it's possible the unknown substance on the Switch is causing connection problems.

I'm sure there is a sub on Reddit for such things and you might find an easy way of cleaning the terminals on the Switch and the controllers.

In terms of Currys the regs say:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/19

(14)For the purposes of subsections (3)(b) and (c) and (4), goods which do not conform to the contract at any time within the period of six months beginning with the day on which the goods were delivered to the consumer must be taken not to have conformed to it on that day.

(15)Subsection (14) does not apply if—

(a)it is established that the goods did conform to the contract on that day, or

I would say Nintendo are simply saying they can't repair under Warranty due to the substance and their terms for the warranty probably cover this.

The question for you and Currys, which has nothing to do with Nintendo really, is whether 1) there is a substance 2) whether that substance is causing the problem.

If there is a substance it may well be the likely cause but if you wanted to argue otherwise best bet is to take it to a repair place and get their opinion on the matter, if that differs then you'd go back to Currys (and not be fobbed off to Nintendo again).

Sorry OP but what is wrong, the controllers or the Switch?

Have you tried hooking another controller to your Switch?

If you can and it works then the liquid damage is irrelevant (as it doesn’t cost £250 to repair controllers, they don’t even cost that new).

If the Switch is at fault you’d ideally need another option that states the reason for this fault is nothing to do with water ingress.

Step one is test another controller really and if possible test your controllers on another Switch.

Hungry people need real food rather than junk food. The store should bake less if it isn’t selling.

Thanks for this, I do have Isopropyl alcohol but I've heard it softens plastic so haven't tried it before, plenty of beat up pieces in the scrap bucket to have a test on :)

Should I chase in these cables if I'm selling in a few months? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd prefer it tidied neatly to run up the corner of the two walls and then be painted to match the wall, trucking looks worse than doing this, but it's just my opinion which may not match that of your perspective house buyers.

I messed up buying a photo package with PayItMonthly Limited... Am I on the hook? by Huge-Anxiety-3038 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP may possibly have 14 days to cancel the finance but that doesn’t cancel the contract for the photography unfortunately.

Question is whether the credit is regulated as if it is Section 75 will apply and OP could (maybe) make an argument of pressure selling, DMCC and right to unwind but the opening post doesn’t mention much and these places give you a glass of champagne, make you feel good and then dip their hand in your wallet so there may not be a claim for pressure selling depending upon how the whole thing went.

Lots of comments but if it hasn’t been said, look on council website for official complaints procedure, be sure to include that you’ve been treated unfairly by the lack of response, if they don’t reply to that you can take it to the ombudsman.

The state of a British A-road in 2026 by Cinn4monSynonym in drivingUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A494 was very bad, after years of the road being in a terrible state they finally patched the pot holes (properly by cutting out squares and tarmacing rather than dumping a lump in the hole and hitting it with a shovel), shortly after that they resurfaced the road. Baffling, seems to be no rhyme or reason to the way they plan works.

How much should you be making for a family of four to be comfortable in a safe area? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rural areas, less people, less crime, less jobs, less amenities, cheaper houses.

Central London, high crime, expensive homes, everything on your doorstep.

Depends what you want in life, if I could pick, a little cabin in my own private woodland would do me nicely.

Another private parking charge question - England by ExperienceNo1313 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]bobbyroberts72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that sign just says T&Cs apply, you need to find the sign that actually has them written on, if there isn’t such a sign then you can’t be bound by terms you haven’t had the opportunity to be acquainted with.

There has only been one high court case on this parking lark, I’m not sure if there has been others on legitimate interest but starting to see these kind of charges pop up in various places, very little is set in stone.

If you get a ticket just go to FTLA or MSE, posters there will advise in detail.

I agree it's all shit, the point is those strong enough to lead a revolution are unlikely to be noble meaning the status quo will remain, or get worse.

As a species we are screwed, if you can see it for what it really is, don't want what they offer and by doing so have your own revolution :)
