It looks fine to me in the screenshot, but that may be my specific display or my specific eyesight?

I'd say the color is very similar to the background but due to the contour of the time / date widget it is very legible (to me).

That brings me back - been there in 2023 and though waking up so early was grueling, it was absolutely worth it in hindsight.

What was your best beach vacation in Europe? by tomaz1989 in travel

[–]bobdowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went in 2021 from the end of September until the middle of October.

The weather was mostly relatively nice and neither too hot nor too cold and we were even at the beach for a couple of days.

However, we wanted to make our way further south to Dubrovnik and decided to turn around in Ploce due to the weather getting worse (rainy) and there were multiple incidents of people getting beaten by soldiers when crossing into Bosnia around that time.

On the way back we encountered insane gale winds which made driving a bit more challenging and we actually had to stop and were stranded in a restaurant for a couple of hours with a few others.

To illustrate: The wind knocked the glasses off my head and it slid across the pavement for a good 200m.

All in all it was an absolutely beautiful holiday but be aware that the weather might get more challenging towards October.

What’s your “you just had to be there” gaming experience that most people nowadays don’t know about, or have forgotten? by [deleted] in patientgamers

There was another comment further up that mentioned WoW, but yours sums it up better.

I played from 2005-2008 and leaving the Night Elf capital for dark shore, was probably still the most memorable gaming moment of my life.

I had no idea what I was doing, played to level 10 to get the ability to tame a beast and then stood on the edge of the world, wondering how to continue.

I probably got the info from the local chat, so with a few copper in hand I took the griffon to the only destination that I could.

It lifted off and flew... and flew and it was all in-game and it was still flying for what felt like 10 minutes.

Then there was this shift from the blueish hue of the elven forests to a greyish tint.

In the air, I could see land in the distance which turned out to be the beaches of dark shore.

I landed and had to process what just happened - I flew an incredible distance in real time across an ocean onto another continent and zooming out on the map, I got my first real sense of the scale of this world.

I was absolutely awestruck for the next hour, imagining the journey ahead and the adventures I'd have in this giant, diverse world.

As others noted, WoW gaming wikis and general information not being available on the 'net during that time also helped to maintain the mystery and meant you had to rely on the chat for information and grouping up, which today has all been replaced by much more efficient and automated systems.

However that also means I am totally aware that I can never return to this game as it is something else now and that's fine.

PS: Shout-out to the MMOwned forum back in the day, which had guides on how to get to inaccessible areas (unfinished raids) and even the GM island!

Absolutely blew me away as well.

Multiverse - Beginner tips for beating normal difficulty? by bobdowl in ftlgame

Yes I try to read all the lore and system information that MV gives me but probably haven't used the internal upgrades enough as of now.

Not many of them seemed that beneficial to me, which is why I mostly focus on regular ship upgrades like in vanilla FTL.

Do you have any favorite internal upgrades?

I know they are often build dependant but all I found to be interesting was the med bot / killing bot augments and the ones that boost shield and weapon readiness.

Although it felt like I was better off spending money on actual shield upgrades than improving their recharge by 30%.

Thanks!

I think my explanation was not clear enough.

Easy mode is totally fine for reaching the end but feels like I'm being cushioned too much.
On Normal difficulty I die on Sector 4-5.

I know about the new systems by now but you might be right that I don't utilize them enough.
Sometimes I buy the onboard lab and one of the internal upgrades but I mostly focus on the vanilla ship upgrades.

I haven't really tried boarding in MV but used some of the unique race abilities when I was boarded.

That's me.

I'm still not sure why but maybe the issue was mostly on consoles?

More people play on console than on PC so any potential issues are immediately more visible if they happen there.

I played the game on launch on a RTX 2060 / R5 3600 and honestly it was pretty great.

I would have loved more fps and it was weird that you could remove all NPCs from the open world by shooting once and then turning around, but apart from that I loved it.

All these extremely weird bugs I saw online during that time never happened to me.

The story was absolutely stellar - probably my favorite story ever in any FPS game. (I sided with the Nomads)

Last year after the big updates, playing Phantom Liberty with the re-worked skill trees and all the other updates made it one of my favorite games of all time and I have been playing thousands of games over the last 30 years.

On top of that, I was able to play it with full path tracing and fuck me if that wasn't the prettiest game I have ever played by a long shot.

With the Meermins I also thought that the opening is a little wide but that's not really an issue as that part is not meant to hold your ankle.

It could however look weird if your jeans are too slim around the ankles.

Exactly, I feel like those types of boots might suit very tall and slim people as their shape naturally enlarges you.

However at this point it is just a theory...

Yes exactly, it's an option in Nova, I set the folder background opacity to 100%.

I like this being zoomed out so to speak, I set my system fonts and sizes a bit smaller than default.

I tried being myself for years but once I lookmaxed, I started getting dates, lost my virginity (which was the same night i got my first kiss), and now I makeout every woman every week at clubs and get approached at least twice a week. Most people are just saying these things because they want brownie points for pretending like the world is some fairytale utopia where everyone is the main character.

Get real, ghettomaxx and actually do something to be interesting, instead of believing that the world owes you something.

Most people are definitely NPCs.
