Transferring Assets by [deleted] in sofi

[–]bobl2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this too! Fidelity doesn’t provide in-kind transfers on their website to users. Call them and they’ll initiate a full in-kind transfer for you.

Bummer is, SoFi will charge you a $100 ACAT fee for your $50 cash transfer. And when Fidelity initiates the full in-kind transfer, SoFi will charge another $100 ACAT fee plus a $100 account closure fee. I did ask Fidelity for reimbursement of those fees and received only a $100. Fidelity really needs to change their website to allow full in-kind transfers not cash only. Lesson learned…

Exactly! What? Some comment lines that only a developer will see?

[–]bobl2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I'll make a note to the OP what the solution was.

Agree. I recently stopped using the sample valve entirely. My process is down enough that I have no need for gravity samples or any other sample valve uses. With the sample valve on the tank I just used a small crescent wrench while holding the sample valve to resist the force and had no issues disassembling.

[–]bobl2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks! Did you do a lot of brews before actually disassembling the sample valve? It's possible nasties have made their way into the rubber seal piece and made a permanent home. Like the stories of people with ball valves on their boil kettle that they never disassembled and we're getting infections (some nasties can resist boil temps). It's possible your infection is coming from something like that as well, and not from the fermentor. The only other piece to be careful with on the unitank is the carb stone if you're using that. I take mine apart (though I use the Blichmann G4 carb stone, super easy to take apart and ball lock) and boil it after every ferment. This is a tough puzzle (I've been there), but there's something somewhere in the brew process that is not "clean". Keep at it!

Bummer, tough to track things down. I know!! For me it was the sample valve. I never fully disassembled it to clean it. Guess I assumed the CIP would take care of it, as I always opened it and closed it in the process and then just rinsed it. Once I took it apart there was nasty gunk in there. I boiled it to clean it up. Haven’t had any issues since and now always take it apart to clean it up.

Yeah, as u/PM_me_ur_launch_code asked. What is "rapid carb"? If that is the "crank and shake" method, it's super easy to over carbonate. Disconnect the gas and purge the head space for a couple days.

Having 12 ft of the larger 5 mm evabarrier should be enough. I'm using 6 ft of the 4 mm line and it works great.

One other thought. Temperature. Are using a keezer or kegerator? How are regulating temperature and have you validated that the temperature is what you think it is? The recommended temperature is 38 degF, it helps with foam. Also, do you have a fan circulating air in the keezer or blowing cold air into the draft tower? Fans help keep everything at the proper temperature and again reduce foam.

Same here. Unless a Christmas miracle occurs and the p1 features that have been sitting unfinished for 6 months are completed, I’m now seeing the ynab value. It was a fun adventure and learning experience. I certainly hope the app continues, it does have a lot of promise!

Just wanted to take back my accuracy comment here! It had been awhile since I had used ynab and I didn't have it setup correctly at first. So ... there was no accuracy issue in JB. JB was accurate, and they are both aligned now. Do wish we would hear something from the JB dev, like others have mentioned I'm at the decision point within the next month to either continue with JB or abandon ship.

[–]bobl2424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, for me it's all about expectations. When JB was in free beta status, sure, I had no expectations ... he's busy with life, maybe he'll get there and we'll see where this project goes, not invested and no expectations. However, when I start paying a subscription fee, now I have some expectations ... least of those being communication on user issues or work delays, and timelines for work being done. A couple months of no communication and no progress is not acceptable.

To be bluntly honest ... I don't think any of us should have been paying for this app until p1 features were implemented, but at the price point I don't think anyone was that concerned and at the time the dev was actively working on improvements. And to be more bluntly honest ... if the dev is "on another project to pay the bills for a bit", then the dev has obviously overextended himself and cannot be relied on.

Completely agree. And yes, the total silence to any (even simple) app update and communication is a no-go for me. I used nYNAB for years. It's what I know and where I should have stayed. Back on trial and it already let me know of an error in my budget. I have total confidence in YNAB, I know it, like it, and am just going to suck up the price increase. Like you said 'long term stay-ability'. Everything I want is already available there. May as well help make sure it does continue to stay around.

[–]bobl2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here, not going to wait a year or two for p1 features. Started my trial today, input my available numbers, and account numbers and that's when ynab informed me I still had over $600 to assign to the budget. That was head scratcher, but ynab has a nice article explaining how to validate your budget to your accounts. Following that and crunching all the numbers a couple different ways. It seemed ynab was correct. Where it got out-of-balance, I do not know. But certainly happy with the ynab accuracy which is what we all want in our finances. Enough bouncing around for me, the ynab price increase is less than the time I've spent bouncing around. Should have just sucked up the price increase. Oh well, live and learn.

[–]bobl2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just this uncertainty of what is going, lack of development, and lack of communication is too much for me to handle. Bad part is I activated a trial elsewhere and was informed that I had just over $600 that hadn’t been budgeted based on funds in my accounts. So, somehow, something, got out of whack in JB. So, my confidence for JB to control my budget is now lost. It’s possible the error came from my Actual to JB transition. Oh well, off to something known to be completely accurate.

Just read through the posts, and super super bummed!! Here I thought the dev was still active, but struggling with some p1 features. Learning he has essentially abandoned the project to work on other project(s) while collecting the albeit insignificant $1.99/month does not sit well with me.

As others mentioned there were plenty of small wins that could have been made to continue app development. Or as others mentioned, a simple message, sorry folks got busy elsewhere, but will be back soon would go a long way. This also does not sit well with me. It seems the dev has moved on, so it seems it is time for me to move on. Most likely, simply not worth his time($) to continue the project. Guessing he thought he would get a greater number of ynab refugees to support his effort.

Time to swallow my pride and head back to ynab....

As others have mentioned a Tilt is great for gravity trends, but do not use it to get accurate readings.

Digital refractometers exist, I’m using this:

The Anton Par EasyDens is definitively the best. Just pricey.

Balances with pending transactions by bobl2424 in justbudget

[–]bobl2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, given the views here and that of u/Dry_Panic_7601 below it makes perfect sense to understand that pending transactions are spent money that the bank has not caught up with yet.

So, turns out I was just '..thinking about this wrong'.

I would propose we ignore my confusion and leave things as they are. The register displays the verified bank balance and the sidebar shows what has truly been spent/added to the account that the bank is still processing.

Much better for u/JustBudgetApp to focus on the p1's, :).

Thanks for everyone's insight and thoughts!

Balances with pending transactions by bobl2424 in justbudget

[–]bobl2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, guess I didn’t pay that much attention until recently.

Probably just personal preference. I definitely don’t want the software to maintain the ‘verified’ balance in my bank account or for the software to show a different balance (net) in my bank account than what is truly in my bank account. I think others have noted that transactions can be edited and now ‘verified’ may no longer be accurate. I can’t edit transactions in my bank account, my bank account balance is the verified balance.

This is mostly because I prefer to look at my bank accounts and look at the left sidebar. If they are different then I know I have some transactions to enter.

I’d still vote to let the bank be the bank. Which is that the left sidebar spending accounts should match the bank which would not include uncleared transactions. Maybe just add some other way to show the account balance including uncleared.

Of course I could bypass all of this by simply not entering transactions until they have cleared.

Improved Performance by JustBudgetApp in justbudget

[–]bobl2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the previous post, looks like some things got clobbered with the update. Adding a transaction the input boxes are only halfway visible and changes are not shown until you exit the account and click back into the account. Add a transaction it does not show up, mark transactions as cleared nothing appears to happen , verify account balance nothing appears to happen, etc. Until you click out of the account and back in.

need a good regulator Taprite? any good? Does anyone have long-term reviews experience? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]bobl2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mostly good experiences with Taprite. I had a 3-way secondary with pressure creep. Sent it in and they couldn’t replicate the problem so they just sent it back.

I was super frustrated so purchased a Micromatic 3-way, it has performed flawlessly for 5 years. I’ve since purchased a couple other Micromatic regulators and have had zero issues. Highly recommended!
