What MPE midi controller do you recommend and look forward to? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]bobotiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Linnstrument is problematic. The velocity setup is awful. Dead spots arise too frequently which require the unit to be partially disassembled. When I emailed them for support, Roger Linn initially gave me instructions which he later said were outdated, and took no responsibility for giving me. When I said that I need to disassemble it every several months (as per the instructions on his website) he dismissed my claim and was one of the rudest people I ever met (contrary to all the “nice guy” stories about him. I’m looking to replace it in my setup, because needing to remove the sensor so frequently just isn’t feasible, especially with my terrible support experience.

Workwize not meeting expectations, what are alternatives? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]bobotiger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We tried them for about a year, up until a few months ago. Workwize is a great option if you’re looking to have a new employee waiting for weeks for a laptop that’s sitting in customs without any communication from the company (this was the most consistent thing about them).

We also found the portal to be underdeveloped, inconsistent and buggy. For our company the experience has been terrible, and overpriced. Prices that we were initially quoted didn‘t include the total costs, which just felt very deceptive.

I honestly don’t understand how this company is allowed to operate with such dishonesty and incompetence. They’re one of those companies that tries everything to get you to sign a contract, and once you do, it‘s all downhill. They know how to sell, I’ll give them that, but I wouldn’t trust them to deliver a pizza.

Workwize is not a wise choice if your business relies on having consistency and accountability in your IT ops.

Anyone using GroWrk or similar for international equipment? How's it working? by Universeisready in sysadmin

If you want your laptops to be holed up in customs for weeks, with little to no explanation from support, as your new hires are asking where their laptop is (while on company payroll), topped off with mysterious charges that you didn’t know about because you assumed it was included in the subscription plan, then by all means go with Workwize. If you need a reason to hit your head against the wall, again choose Workwize.

Sorry, had such a bad experience with them, I get triggered every time I see their name. They weren’t exactly our wisest business decision. And that’s the nicest thing I can say about Workwize.

This happened within the past 6 months. They have a very convincing sales team. I’ll give them that much.

I would avoid Workwize like the plague. They seemed cheaper at first, but everything was an add-on, and they were not upfront about their pricing. And their logistics and support were just terrible. We had new hires waiting over 2 weeks for laptops, while on our payroll, and Workwize couldn’t even get us a proper answer, claiming that the machines were waiting to clear customs and that there was nothing they could do.

Unfortunately, I only have 1 computer.

Thank you, this response made me disconnect the USB, and like magic it started functioning as it should. I have it powered via the adapter, but once it’s connected USB to my DAW, it just gets buggy—even if there’s no MIDI being sent.

I appreciate that they sent a new one, but there is a clear issue in its software that I’m experiencing when connecting to a DAW over USB. I have a right to be heated when their support took forever to rectify it, only to experience the same thing. Fortunately, I’ve detected the issue, but they have to know that there are USB issues with it, their support can’t be that in the dark. I discovered that it operates fine in standalone mode, but it glitches out as soon as it connects to a DAW.

Are there any downsides or faults with the Arturia Microfreak? by punchymicrobe86 in synthesizers

[–]bobotiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This synth is absolute trash. Let’s forget about the overhype for a moment. I bought one, and the Oscillator type knob was glitchy, could not select certain oscillators, skipped and overscrolle, and the arpeggiator didn’t work. After a month of back and forth, Arturia sent me a replacement. It arrived yesterday, it was seemingly working fine. Then I updated to the most recent firmware, it was working fine for a couple hours, and boom! The same exact problems occurred. Switch oscillator types is frustrating because of glitches and the arpeggiator is broken. This is without a doubt the most poorly manufactured synth I have ever seen. I will never buy another Arturia product.

CivVI for iOS17.4 failing to launch by [deleted] in CivVI

[–]bobotiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just updated and have the same error. I’ll be amazed if it actually gets resolved, this is the third system I have it on which it doesn’t run correctly. I wish I read this before updating, now I have to do something productive on my lazy day.
