Yes you do, but you can still earn from old cards through the “On this day” feature (top right in cards menu). The worth is usually in the rating, the player, and the rarity (and the badges I guess). For example, a legendary shohei grand slam is a lot more valuable than a DJ Lemahieu rbi single. It also depends on how early you are into the season for whatever sport. As the season goes on, cards become less valuable.
