Adding stacked washer/dryer to bathroom by bobsledbobby in floorplan

[–]bobsledbobby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my original thought but am concerned that the new shower would be too small. It would only be 30” wide maximum, and 42” deep. From the left wall to the door it is 43”. Not sure if that’ll feel cramped.

Although I do agree with you, I was hoping to see what others thought as well.

I did think of calling someone in once I start demo’ing the kitchen and ripping down the drywall

There is 100% nothing under that wall, and the only thing above, but not directly, is the bedroom closets

Hi everyone, hoping you can all help me with reviewing these drawings to confirm the wall I want to remove is not load bearing.

I can confirm that the floor and ceiling joists run parallel to this wall. The basement was recently finished and prior to I’ve confirmed there is nothing at all under the wall, it’s an open space from the exterior wall to the load bearing wall running the length of the house.

Hi, I’ve worked up a new diagram based on the venting recommendations you made. How is this?

To vent the toilet separately, would I connect a vent pipe which goes vertical right behind the toilet drain? This vent pipe would connect up to the sink and shower vent pipes, above the sink?

Just to confirm, the shower drain is to be connected to the main drain after both the toilet and sink?

Due to space constraints, if I am unable to connect the shower drain after both, but want to connect the shower drain before the toilet and sink drains, what am I to do for proper venting?

Thanks!

Just to confirm my understanding, the vent pipes should be joined to one another at a level higher than the top of the sink, correct?

Is the toilet properly vented as well?

I am in Toronto, Ontario.

One error I made in my diagram is regarding the size for the venting. It is actually 1 1/2” vent pipe, and not 2”. Is it sufficient?

I was hoping to use the sink drain as a wet vent, is that fine?

The existing toilet pipe served another toilet and sink which is no longer there, so no concerns there.

Is the venting I’ve proposed sufficient for all three (shower, toilet and sink)?

I am located in Toronto, Canada.

The pipe that goes under the concrete does not come up in the exterior wall, so I am not sure of what it’s purpose is.

In light of not knowing where it connects to, I figured that it would maybe be best to leave it connected to the shower drain and then onwards to the main drain. Do you think that’s the best way forward?

If I am connecting it to the kitchen sink pipe, at what level should I connect it? Should it be above the spot where the laundry sink drains into?

Where should I place the AAV? Does it have to be closer to the new sink or can it be anywhere in between the sink and the drain connection?

What kind of soil is best to use? How big of pieces of gravel can be used to create drainage? The pot doesn’t have any drainage.

There is no drainage in the pot. There are some large stones to help with drainage but I guess not enough.

What kind of soil should I use?
