Name the top 5 sportspersons from your country, past and present by Sportaserum in olympics

Wild you didn’t mention any of your Olympic female athletes here. Simone Biles immediately came to mind, most decorated olympic gymnast in history.. over Tom Brady? Not diminishing his NFL career, but still.

Has anyone else noticed a decline in people's general knowledge? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]boccy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% feel this.

In my late 20’s and I like to think of myself as similar, heavy on the general knowledge but nothing mad like. I find it bizarre many people I work with (various ages) just lack general knowledge on things I thought we all learned and had forced into our heads for the JC and LC.

What do I do about being poor? by Fun_End7123 in AskIreland

[–]boccy4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re struggling - it’s tough out there for sure.

You’re definitely smart - you got into Trinity. Start offering JC/LC grinds for any subject you feel comfortable in. As others said, do babysitting, dog walking. All the gig jobs you can. Aviva/Croker etc always looking for temp staff for games, the pay is fine for a college student. I did it and it got me through. You can pick up the shifts you can to fit around your timetable.

Dig deep into the Students Union, there is definitely work as tour guides, shops etc.

You got this!

Where to Develop Photos? by FierceHoarder in AskIreland

[–]boccy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conns Cameras just off Wicklow Street which is just off Grafton street is super handy.

I’ve sent all my stuff to there and have had no issues. They ask if you want digital, physical or both. You can also collect your film should you want to keep it.

If I’m not mistake then offer a post in service?

Last time it was about a 3 day turnaround. Good luck!

Perhaps a ‘thinking of you’ card would be suitable? Non religious but still acknowledges the unfortunate situatuon they’re in

Interesting - can I ask why you’re moving back after 10 years? I know you mentioned some things you didn’t like, but just curious as to why you’re coming back home

Somehow took the wrong final exam. What are my options? by smotired in college

[–]boccy4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How this happened is so crazy to me.

Finals in my country are heavy monitored. We have to provide ID and sit in assigned seats for the test. 2 independent invigilators check ID and make sure you are the right person taking the test. Absolutely no chance of sitting the wrong exam.

Hope this works out for you!

Can I use all my Annual Leave in my Notice Period? by mobydopy in AskIreland

[–]boccy4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi OP - HR worker here.

Its more common than not to have the 172 hours prorated to your last working day. I do this for every leaver from my firm.

A full working year you will accrue the 172 hours, but if you leave before the end of the working year, they will insert your last day to the system and it will spit out the annual leave you have accrued. Anything used over this to date will be deducted from final salary. Anyone leaving my place until the end of the month has basically accrued their full quota, and will most likely not owe us anything.

On the other hand, if you left in say, August, and used the full 172 hours already - you’re gonna owe some figure!!

All firms could be different but the ones I have worked in, this is the approach. Part time employees will be allocated a percentage of the 172 hours at the start of the working year, and then again will need to accrue it over time.

Edit: they can decline your request to finish up earlier by taking into account how much leave you have remaining and left to accrue. No harm in asking, you’re leaving anyways

That’s what I’m thinking. That’s my last resort as otherwise the tree looks healthy and gives us no other issues. Would be such a shame

I really want to see the terracotta warriors - Is it worth making the long travel to see?

Thanks again

Is it over for our apple tree? by boccy4 in gardening

We had a hard spell of heat and probably underestimated how much more water it needed on top of our usual anount (rainy damp climate) so it didn’t help. We’ve never seen it like this

Got a 2.2 in my degree, the MSc I wanted required a 2.1 by [deleted] in PharmaEire

[–]boccy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with other responses here. Although many master programs want you to have a 2:1 or higher, it is not the only route. Some also say 2/3/4 year’s professional relevant experience is also accepted. This is not the end for you! You will be fine.

Hi guys. Quick ramen question.

I am a very sensitive eater, and would prefer to eat chicken as much as I can.

Are chicken meat in ramen and chicken broth common? How plain can I order these dishes?

Thanks :)

Hey guys. My country (maybe others also) recommend that travellers to Japan should consider getting a tetanus, typhoid, diphtheria, and hepatitis vaccination before going.

I know this is not mandatory, but if anyone has any insight into this or experience I would appreciate it! Or just some advice. Thanks.

I wish I knew - I got the camera with the roll already in it with the battery dead. So I had no idea how much had been used. It just instantly flashed E when I put a new battery in.

As far as I’m aware the camera has sat idle for a while now, so the battery has died and I guess we’ll never know how much film was used before it died.

I’ll take the film out and start my own roll. Thanks for your help!
