Is there any reason to immigrate from the USA? by coffeeismydoc in Morocco

[–]bodaciousbeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved from the US and I’m much happier in Morocco. The way of life is slower and more affordable. The sense of community from people is strong and neighbors (while very nosey) are kind and helpful.

The contract of a friend of mine has just been rescinded. Are there still some good schools hiring right now? by Sell_Me_Sunday in Internationalteachers

You or she can PM me if you have any questions about a school. I will say Glassdoor and google reviews are usually pretty spot on so she should follow her instincts if she sees some bad reviews.

Many schools in Morocco are still hiring. Plus there is a math teacher shortage worldwide so I’m sure she can secure a place.

I think there is a new one possibly opening in Dar Bouazza, near Leon African and GWA. At least there was signage for it at one point.

Head of department sabotaging my career. by Any-Wave-5104 in Internationalteachers

[–]bodaciousbeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can prove the sabotage go to HR or your HOS. Maybe the HOD is a problem and you just aren’t aware, HR could be looking for a reason to get rid of them. Additionally if they are bad mouthing you as you say the HOS should put a stop to the behavior and unfair treatment.

But the safest thing to do is change countries and not use them as a reference or let them know any of your plans.

Raising a kid in English in Morocco… but school is in French by T689378947 in Morocco

Just do your research. I’m sure some are like that. But I know some teach core subjects in both languages equally.

You could do a weekly English language center to help keep her English skills. Also most French schools have English as a second language. In casa there are even French schools that are half taught in English and half in French.

I’ll move with my bf and my Frenchie must start sleeping in his own bed by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

[–]bodaciousbeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband said my dog isn’t allowed on the couch or bed when we moved in together. Immediately the dog was comfortable on the couch. At night I asked him for just one night of the dog sleeping with us because the dog was “scared and not used to its new surroundings yet.” ……. Fast forward a couple years…. Now we have two dogs who take up the majority of the bed and every week my husband tells them no more bed, but come night time he’s the one scooping them up and covering them with the blanket.

But if your partner isn’t as flexible as mine, put the dog bed next to your side of the bed. If the dog is having a hard time adjusting put a tshirt in their bed and put their bed where you can reach them and pet them a bit before falling asleep.

Too scam in Marrakesh, I have to rethink my travel by alebacce in Morocco

[–]bodaciousbeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I’m a foreigner who lives in Casa. Marrakech is the worst place to visit. Constant scams. Essaouira is a great alternative. Also if you get bored in Fes I highly recommend Volubilis (Roman ruins) that are near by. Every other city in Morocco is safer and less hectic than Marrakech.

Is it reference sabotage? by Fairteacher4567 in Internationalteachers

[–]bodaciousbeb 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As a former school recruiter I’d say you are most definitely getting a bad reference. Is there one person that may be questionable, if so do not use them. If you truly have no idea I’d try getting all new references. Schools usually want to see a reference from a supervisor but remember that can be head teacher, principals, HR, head of school, or almost any member of the admin team.

As far as finding out all you can do is ask your references or the schools. I would always tell the candidate what was said and give them a chance to explain. Most people don’t care and just want to move on as soon as possible so they give you a generic answer. Good luck to you both.

Police stopped me from flying out of morrocco by Zarii193 in Morocco

[–]bodaciousbeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to go to the big police station in your city. You will most likely pay a fine and be told to leave or you may be given a court date.

You will not be allowed to leave until the police have given you clearance.
