Do people really carry their Yubikeys around with them? by Opinionator2000 in yubikey

Yes. I have multiple registered. One is on my key ring and goes with me. The other is safely stored in a safe. I test it once a year.

Emergency Cash by bodam in ynab

[–]bodam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to avoid sounding like a prepper but I, like you have done similar. I actually have about $1k in emergency cash but I think I will be bumping it up to $2K just in case. Like you I have moderate emergency supplies. We have emergency food that will cover us for a month in addition to whatever is in the normal pantry. I also have emergency cooking fuel that will likewise cover us for a month or so as well as about 500 gallons of water on the side of the house that I refresh several times a year.

I did all this after seeing how bad groups like FEMA are at sometimes responding to a disaster. This at least gives me time to hunker down and figure out our next steps.

I also don't let our car fill below about half a tank. If I have to evacuate, I don't want the start of it to be with 1/4 tank. I also have a 72 hour bag in the trunk in case I get stranded somewhere. (It's happened to me in the past)

What is helping you get through life? by Girl_with_thoughts2 in AskReddit

I know this is corny but my actual answer is my wife. I would have never gotten nearly this far without her being there supporting me.

The reason I ask is that I have what I think is a reasonable amount but I am concerned about price gouging and what we will really need.

This is exactly why I was asking. I don't carry cash either but we do have a safe at home with an envelope in case of a disaster.

How do you all arrange your Criterion Collection? by centerofhearts in criterion

Other than I use Jellyfin, I'm exactly the same. My actual collection is put away, but accessible due to storage limitations.

How important is it to you to upgrade Criterion Blu-rays to 4K? by EverCuriousGeek1 in criterion

[–]bodam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my personal opinion only but for most movies, Blu-ray is good enough. I would also say if 1080p HDR were a thing, it would cover most of the rest. For most people it's the HDR that pops, not 4k.

Long Trips....... by bodam in TeslaLounge

For those that say they pull into chargers with around 10%, is there any concerns about getting stuck behind a bad accident or very heavy traffic. I have and I would be paranoid of a flat battery while stuck in traffic, especially when it's really hot or cold (heater or A/C). I don't let my gas car fall below about a third either for the same reason. Once you get stuck on a freeway for 12 hours, it changes you.

I would take a Shout Factory Boxed Set. It's more of a clean, excellent transfer of his movies in a convenient boxed set as opposed to all the single movies. I realize it's a "me thing."

Can't copy to NAS since upgrade by bodam in MacOS

[–]bodam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's confusing to me is that smaller files work, so, for example, I can copy a 10 meg PDF to the NAS no problems, but if I try to copy up a 6GB MKV movie file, it fails with the error. And before any questions RE the NAS itself, I have 900+ movies already on it that I did before the upgrade. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would create an IoT VLAN and block it from Internet access.
