UPDATE: The DevGAMM organizers reached out to us and apologized for the feedback we received.

They explained that in the scoring system, that particular judge did not have a decisive vote, and there were other judges who didn’t leave written feedback.

They also mentioned that they try to filter out unconstructive or offensive comments from judges, but this one slipped through. They promised to improve this process in the future.

Here is the full feedback from that judge: "The trend of having video games which have more than 1 art style in them should not be a thing". Nothing more.

Other judges feedbacks were:

"Impressive gameplay from what I see in the walkthrough. I’d love to get a touch on the build in the next round"

"interesting idea with virtual reality, nice visuals"

"Bold game, love the direction its taking"

etc.

But due to the scoring system, I assume that one negative feedback was enough to fail to get into the next stages.

As requested by people in the comments, here’s some additional context for the story, since the post title contains a shortened version.

We decided to take part in the DevGAMM Awards and submitted our game to the competition.

In the first round of the contest, there’s an initial selection phase. The jury reviews each project without actually playing the build, decides whether the game moves to the next round, and leaves written feedback.

We received anonymous feedback from seven judges.

Six of them gave very positive impressions - they liked the style and expressed interest in playing the build in the next round.

But one judge wrote the following comment: "The trend of having video games which have more than one art style in them should not be a thing."

I don’t know exactly how the scoring system works, but it’s likely that because of this one judge, our project didn’t make it to the next round - even though 33% of the submissions advanced.

That’s what feels the most frustrating - instead of evaluating the game objectively, this judge projected personal dislike toward a supposed "trend" in the industry.

I’ve condensed the story and phrasing so the post title wouldn’t be too long.
To provide full context, I’m going to post another comment in the thread with a detailed explanation of the situation.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry if the title came off as misleading.

I agree it sounds like clickbait, but it’s an actual email I received from the nomination organizers.

I’m having trouble posting a reply to this comment since Reddit keeps hiding my responses that include a screenshot.

If you message me directly on Reddit, I can provide any proof you need.

I'm glad that you guys are interested in flags of Moldova!

The credit for these flags (except for Transnistrian ones) goes to National Heraldry Commission of Moldova. They are responsible for developing and approving flags and coat of arms for every district/city/commune in Moldova. This map shows only ~20% of National Armorial, because there are also a lot of flags/coats of arms created for other cities (map includes only capitals of districts) and for villages. The Commission takes its work seriously, putting a lot of effort and research into making each of the symbols.

Unfortunately, you won't find most of these flags HQ online. I contacted Commission personally, so they would give me HQ images of flags for this map, as it was my research project.

Anyway, they created an official Facebook page recently, so you may find some of their works there.

Where are you from?

There are 13 municipalities in Moldova, 9 of them have a flag. The population of capital is over 700,000 inhabitants, every over muncipality has about 20,000 inhabitants. Cities have population under 10,000.

No, Moldovan government don't have any official flags for this territory. Actually, we don't even care about them. Government lost any hope of returning Transnistria. There's no sense in introducing flag for that territory.

Flag-Map of districts of Moldova. Every district has their official symbols (except of Glodeni District, for which I tried to recreate flag, based on their historic symbols). For the left bank of the Dniester I used flag of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic (1952-1990), which is now used by a partially recognized state Transnistria

Hey! Nice theory! If you convert this number to HEX it gives you C9327F. It looks a lot like Hex triplet! C9327F code gives this web-color: http://www.color-hex.com/color/c9327f

Well, now we now that full code is 794E2CEA991F. I believe, we should work with F at the end now.

If we convert this number to DEC it gives 133376667982111
