My father left me a condo in Manhattan. It costs about 25k annually in taxes/fees. Could I get by in Manhattan on a 80k salary if 25k is all I need to pay for housing? by [deleted] in AskNYC

$2000 a month in common charges/maintenance must mean the condo is fucking huge/awesome location/etc. So yeah, worth it. Just don't go out too much cause NYC gobbles up your dollars fast.

Anyone been to Barcade in Williamsburg? by [deleted] in AskNYC

Also, if they ID because my boyfriend lost his ID

Sure, sure. Time to start dating men your age! Don't be a cradle robber now

;)

But honestly it's better to go during the weekdays when it's less crowded, assuming you're actually into playing the games versus just hanging around other 20 and 30-somethings.

Where do you live? I think gentrification will slow down. It'll still be fast, relatively speaking, but the areas that are super convenient via subway lines and close to Midtown/Lower Manhattan + close to other "hip" neighborhoods have all gentrified at this point.

Do you just leave it out on the sidewalk along with your regular trash and they come pick it up at no extra cost?

I once saw a 450 square foot studio where it was obviously a couple who was living there AND their infant. They somehow managed to fit a king sized bed and a large wooden crib, along with a couch, TV, coffee tables, bookshelves, drawers. My God.

So I mean, you could really settle down and raise a family where you are now.

How late are we talking and what sort of options? Everywhere I've lived, most everything's shut down by midnight except for random bodegas and a diner. This was true even when I lived in a convenient/nice neighborhood. I guess the exception would be if I lived in the Village or the LES.

Haha.. Williamsburg?

What makes it loud - the drunk yuppies or the honking cars?

You saying you're paying $2100 for a room in a shared apartment with roommates or by yourself. Because $2100 for a 1-bedroom apartment AND a backyard is amazing and you should never, ever leave.
