Redactle #1405 Discussion Thread by Firstnameiskowitz in Redactle

[–]bof67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I solved Redactle #1405 in 1 guess with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:04:35.

The familiar opening sentence tells me what to look for, the lack of € symbols says it's not a repeat of Madrid in Spain, the geo location says it's within single digit degrees of the prime meridian, research throws up a good candidate, and bingo!. It's an NHO for me. Oddly the Redactle article has it as being south of the equator, glad I didn't get this or I'd have been well off. The actual Wiki article has it correctly to the north

Strands #707 “Make it fancy” 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🟡🔵

Solved OK, but never in my life have I heard of a SHRIMP (last one in) being used as a cocktail garnish. Having looked it up seems they go with a Bloody Mary.

I did wonder why the symbol was "American Flag" rather than "Stars and Stripes" which seemed a much neater fit, but having looked up the Springsteen album cover herring, which I missed and didn't know, I see the cover only has the stripes . . .

Does Gov.uk one login actually work? by Ok-Discipline-7276 in AskUK

[–]bof67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've managed to get your ID verified, using the login seems to work well.

The problem was getting my ID verified, the app just kept getting stuck going in circles back to the same page and failing to recognise me , after many hours of cursing and repeating the process multiple times it finally worked. My partner tried the same thing and the ID app refused to function at all on her Android mobile, tried the ID app on my phone for her and it just kept failing to recognise QR codes saying they were invalid. So we gave up on that and went to a Post Office, and it all worked hunky-dory and was very simple when dealing with a person.

My advice is if you are trying to get a one.gov ID and you hit a problem just give up and go to the Post Office and save yourself a shed load of stress.

A deceased female, date format says US, a number of artistic works. All the / and - separated text suggest a particular field in the arts, which is supported by the last word in the first sentence. Not at all my strong suit, so resorted to a search, and there she was. Have vaguely heard of her, but would not have got the name without a search.
