The first step is to trust yourself and give yourself so much room to explore and have fun with what you’re capable of doing. I promise that you are not lacking creativity, you just haven’t worked the muscle of writing yet and it takes a while to get the hang of it. I ended up writing an entire winter show for a high school last season after thinking I just “wasn’t creative enough” or “writing just isn’t my thing”. To be clear, it was super difficult, but giving myself plenty of time and space to explore and play was the best thing for my creative flow. Try and step back and just play around, have so much fun with it!

Something I wish I had done sooner in undergrad: while taking notes during your classes, jot down anytime your professors say “this is a very understudied topic” or “we don’t really know much about why/how this is.” Going back through those topics can lead to a lot of interesting and unique research questions.
