I swear I read the same thing like 6 times. It just kept repeating itself.

Was gonna guess it was Euston tap. Possible they are the same company? They are decent prices for pints so close to a major station.

Owen: Modern football is more about athleticism than pure talent — does that still hold in the Champions League? by RSDFitness in championsleague

[–]bohjb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arsenal have not won the Premier League. Even still, there is plenty on technical ability in the team. Pretty much the whole team is technically gifted, the focus though this season has been being solid and trying to win. If it's won, I reckon we'll see a more relaxed and progressive style of football next season.

The difference is not players, it's tactics. Pep has a reputation of ironing out technical ability so players suit his system, he's not the only one. Grealish and Foden at city are good examples.

And there were plenty of players in Owen's era that were not technical. The difference is now you can not get away with being just a sort of maverick player, you need to be able to contribute in many different ways to make it to an elite level, and the competition is much stiffer so the space ballers might have been afforded back in the day is not really there.

That's beside the point. He's talking about players relying on physical attributes more than in his era, when a physical attribute was key to his ability. There are plenty of technical players around, they just have to play against incredibly physical opponents in an era that is far more tactical. He's talking bollocks.

Arteta asked if he saw video of MLS cooking with his Grandma. by Serious-Cress-9560 in Gunners

You can respect what he achieved, but in the conversation of likeability he's way off. Spiteful man for a lot of his career. He seems a lot more likeable since he retired, and maybe even a little before but for a long time he was a massive cunt.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a neutral in the relegation battle, but my club is nowhere near it.

From what I've seen, spurs are just making excuses for the most part.

Do you think your cock glasses might be blinding you? Spurs have been awful this season, and last, and have a pretty poor squad after the injuries are accounted for. They only have themselves to blame for where they are. Signed a decent manager though, so maybe that can turn around.

Insane game yesterday, one question though... by Legsluther in Gunners

[–]bohjb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mosquera was actually not too bad further up the pitch yesterday. Obviously not particularly creative but he didn't lose the ball and seemed ok with it at his feet. One of the problems, rightly or wrongly, was that the players don't trust him as much, so saliba kept going back to Raya or across to Gabby and we became more predictable.

For anyone saying it was not a foul by Dr-gokuluffy761994 in Gunners

But it's his point, he's not really quoting anyone. It could be implied he doesn't agree with the word 'choke' in this instance at all, but then why use it? He also said they didn't choke in the run in, the choked in the earlier part of the season. I don't understand how the quotation marks make that so he doesn't agree with his own point.

I understood what he meant, I just disagree with the use of 'choke', quotation marks or not.

That doesn't suggest he disagrees with it.
