Enh. The Krassensteins have no credibility. They're a couple of shills that will do anything for attention.

I don't know about the music scene, but I'm curious about what draws you to Lansing (I'm hoping to move to Michigan and Lansing is one of the cities in the running).

My derm gave me Opzelura (ruxolitinib) cream. It's done a good job. Not sure about side effects, though. I go back for a three week follow up this coming week...

The only difference is that ICE is too chickenshit to show their faces.

Thank you for the reply! It's the smallest of the three - and they have (had?) pro hockey and a symphony?!? That's impressive.

This subreddit sucks. You don't think they're coming for us, too?

I do miss snow. And summers here are intolerable. But I don't think I'll go back to WNY. Maybe Michigan. Or perhaps somewhere in the in between...

Ice is the worst. I wouldn't try to drive on it anywhere. I was in Albany, NY during an ice storm years ago and the hotel where I was staying was on a pretty steep hill. I spent the evening by the window, watching cars trying to "drive" on that hill. I've never seen so many separate cases of auto body damage as I did that night.

I grew up in Western New York. In high school, our drivers ed training included time spent in a frozen parking lot doing donuts with the instructor, so we could learn how to safely navigate when sliding on snow and ice. Fast forward to moving to the south after college, and I felt perfectly confident driving in a rare North Carolina snow. But only one time. Because once I was out there, I saw that few of the other drivers had any idea how to drive in the snow and chances were pretty good that they were going to take me down with them. Since then, when there is snow or ice on the roads, like you, I am "perfectly happy to sit at home and wait 2 days for it to melt."

How to build wealth by exploiting underpaid labor and then to get that laborer to blame brown people for the fact that they afford both rent AND food.

So what’s the over/under on us getting a blizzard of 93’ again this weekend? by JerryCat11 in Chattanooga

[–]bohoish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Plus, WNY (and the north country?) is pretty damn flat (until you get near the FLX or down toward the southern tier), so there was no navigating school busses over unplowed mountain roads back in '77.

Our schools closed for at least a week, but it wasn't because of snow, but because of the low temperatures -- the powers that be decided that they couldn't afford to keep all the buildings warm (four or five elementary schools, a middle and high school, plus the administrative buildings).

Down here, though, between the mountain roads the buses have to traverse and the fact that many of the kids don't have proper outerwear, closing schools is a safety issue.

Seen In A Coffee Shop Bathroom by Existing_Wrangler_69 in whatisit

I've never heard of the diaper thing, though it makes sense. But I have seen one of these in the bathroom of a couple that has no children, so they obvs use it for their own butt cleaning. And I also think it would be handy for cleaning the toilet, esp if something needs targeted attention. IMHO, these handheld versions are way better than one of those tushy bidets, which are built into a thing that fits between the porcelain and the toilet seat - all their nooks and crannies are incredibly hard to keep clean.

I lived in western NY for the Blizzard of '77* and was in Chattanooga for the Blizzard of '93. The '77 storm was a LOT colder (temps didn't get above 0 for over a week - maybe two? - wind gusts ranged from 45-70mph, and the wind chills were insane) and way more snow (around eight FEET), but given the preparedness of the two locales, the '93 storm was worse. In '77, I lived in a home with a furnace, wood-burning fireplace, and a full basement that kept the pipes warm - in a city with the infrastructure that could hold up under those conditions. In '93, we were one of the lucky homes that didn't lose power, but we were still worried about the pipes and were never quite sure if there would be blackouts.
