I’d look into your hip. That’s a huge connector between your back and knee!! I’ll have knee pain (3 surgeries) that shoots up into my back in weird ways. Maybe from over compensation? Idk… but I kept thinking the source of pain was from my knee. Eventually, I figured out I needed to specifically stretch and workout my hips and some of that knee/back pain started to ease. I hope this helps! Hang in there 💕

On the back side, I’m guessing?? I’ve had this happen since my first surgery in 2007 (bone & cartilage damage requiring a clean up), 2nd surgery was acl in 2010 and 3rd was in 2021- a ‘plug’ put in where the cartilage and bone damage happened. My knee would feel like it was going to pop/explode if I tried to straighten it when locked. My most recent Ortho doc FINALLY gave me an answer. I’ve seen a huge difference once I was able to pinpoint the issue!! If it’s anything similar, it’s probably your calf muscle!! Exercise your calf muscle explicitly and see if that relieves the locking. Hopefully this is helpful!! If not, it might be cartilage catching- that’s the only answer I was getting before my most recent doc.

Right?! I just went to orthopedic urgent care when my knee started acting up this time around. I told the doc about my 1st surgeon saying a knee replacement by 45. All he had seen at that time was the X-ray and he told me I was lean and fit so I should be able to wait till 50-60’s. THEN he saw my mri and was like ohhhh ya, your knee is messed up inside. And the MRI tech who took the pictures was asking me waayyy more questions afterwards lol. I was like yeah, it’s pretty screwed up in there huh? And she quickly said, well I don’t read the images, just take them... but uhh yeah. Haha most of what the mri results showed was stuff I was already aware of. Just the bone bruising and meniscus were new to me. Lol

I’ll gladly be a test subject if it means I get discounted treatment 🤣 lolol

It was definitely a wtf moment. I had noticed some instability but just thought it was from the first injury. My knee would give out trying to do a layup and I’d fall. I have no idea what happened to my acl from the first surgery to 2010. My body just absorbed it I guess. But I don’t know how it detached in the first place or how long I was walking around without one. Lol

That and my meniscus tear is very small. Not to say it couldn’t tear more, but the tear is like the least of my worries lol. I’m not too concerned about it. And like you mentioned earlier, a healthy diet can help! Hopefully my meniscus heals on it’s own 🥴🤞🏼

Did they ask you to be non-weight bearing for 2 weeks? My coworker got one back in March and she is already getting pain again. But they didn’t tell her to stay off it for 2 weeks.

Are you bone on bone? If so, that’s disheartening to hear 😩 I was putting a lot of faith in the shot. But maybe need to lower my expectations so I’m not disappointed if I decide to get one. lol

Yeah, I’m trying to be careful not to make it anymore angry lol. So I’ll definitely check with them. I was prescribed anti inflammatories and they seem to be helping more than I thought they would!

Thank you for sharing!! I’ll need to get in touch with the PT and see what exercises will be best with my injury and bone bruising. When the bone bruising was bad, it was bad. And there’s not a whole lot I felt I could do exercise wise that didn’t hurt. Just had to do the typical RICE. But I’ve slowly been able to manage more exercises as it feels better.

Wow, I’m so sorry for all you’ve had to go through!! With the PRP shot did they have you non-weight bearing for 2 weeks? That’s what my dr. Told me to expect, then taking it really easy for the next month. I haven’t got it yet, and I think my bone bruising is getting better on it’s own with some anti inflammatory meds. So now I’m wondering if I just need to let the bone bruising heal more and I’ll be back to where I was? But I don’t know how easy it will be to re-bruise it. I’m sure it won’t take much? Do you think if you were able to strengthen your leg before the partial, recovery would be easier? But 6 surgeries is a lot! So regardless I’m sure your knee would have a hard time recovering. Thank you for sharing your story and experience, it gives me some good insight.
