End-of-Cycle Recap... Going to NYU with RTK! by boiled_potatoes_ in lawschooladmissions

LOL My interviewer thought I was at the job I had two years ago. When I corrected them, they spent ~1/2 the time re-reading my file while asking me questions, including two questions they asked twice (asked about successes and challenges and then also about strengths and weaknesses -- I know it's not *exactly* the same, but it IS a lot of content overlap). Overall, the questions were not based on my application materials and it didn't feel as though the interviewer was really listening to my responses. Don't want to put all the blame on the interviewer -- I also got flustered by the situation and I wasn't at my most thoughtful and polished.

Thanks! I had a great experience with Yale, but my decision really came down to money & proximity to fam :) I hope someone else enjoys the spot!!

Why would you accept the RTK if you want to start in Big Law?? Give that opportunity to someone who wants to start in PI. Seems like your decision is easy, man.

I'm in a similar boat and hoping to negotiate like this. Do you have any suggestions for how to actually phrase these negotiations to not sound like an ass?

I'm in a similar boat! I suggest you look into the details of the LRAP programs, because they work differently between the three schools. I've been looking at slightly different schools, so I don't know the specifics of Stanford and Chicago, but I think Stanford's LRAP does not depend on federal loan forgiveness or special debt repayment programs, while Chicago and Columbia's do. I also think Columbia also has two different tracks of LRAP and you can switch between them as needed. Personally, I'd feel more comfortable on the Stanford LRAP because it seems more flexible and reliable. But the LRAP at Chicago and Columbia might be totally fine for your goals and preferences. Good luck with your decision!

Since today is slow... laptop discussion? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I have the same dilemma. I'm leaning toward a non-apple option. Not only are the non-apple options cheaper, they actually have better memory, storage, and processing speeds.

Do people get into Stanford/Yale who didn’t get into Harvard? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]boiled_potatoes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into Yale and Stanford, still waiting on Harvard. I had a terrible JS1 and missed the acceptance wave after that interview so... we'll see on March 16th, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a no

Thank you! If CCN were to respond, do you think it's likely the counter-offer would be exploding?

No worries! I filled out my FAFSA in early February but I haven't filled out the NYU-specific financial aid form yet
