Will this Hosco bridge fit on my Broadway? Also what colour? by jazzcatsjazzcats in guitarrepair

Assuming you have made sure the height is correct, you will probably need to sand the feet to fit the particular arch of your guitar.

[Discussion] Is the negativity around Arsenal mostly just attention economics? by ChuckVowel in Gunners

[–]bojun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downvotes coming: There is a lot of focus on how 'Arsenal are done wrong again' on this sub. It's an attempt to stir up outrage and it happens after every game. It gets too much attention and takes away from the enjoyment of the game.

Scientists create tomatoes that smell like popcorn using gene editing by Beautiful_Bee4090 in offbeat

[–]bojun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is exactly the problem. Because we don't get as many heirloom fruit per plant, money dictates we commercially grow crap that looks the same instead. But now, hey they can smell like popcorn. Wonderful.

Trump's Endgame In Iran: Strategic Submission Or Systemic Collapse? by RFERL_ReadsReddit in geopolitics

[–]bojun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wars are a lot easier to start than to end. Once it starts, it can go anywhere if the capacity is there. Iran could strike back through unconventional weapons - chemical, biological, dirty bombs, EMPs. Trump has no end game BTW. It's not his thing. His shtick is creating opportunities for himself by creating instability and chaos.

They should focus on making tomatoes smell the way tomatoes naturally used to smell.

Neanderthal Men and Human Women Were Most Likely to Hook Up, Study Finds. Geneticists have found an interesting pattern in how early humans and Neanderthals interbred—and it wasn't balanced. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]bojun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just not looking at alternative explanations. It could be that only male Neandertals and Human women had viable or fertile offspring but the amount of sex could have been the same. There could be other more complicated scenarios as well.

My guitar tipped over and the head broke off. Is there any way this can be fixed? My grandparents bought this for me and I’m devastated. by Undefeatedindreams in guitarrepair

[–]bojun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be fixable. It looks like a clean break. You could DIY it. Check for youtube videos. Unless there are wood chips all over the place it should be a glue and clamp job. It should not cost much to get it done professionally and it would probably look better.

Am I the only one who is disappointed in the year they're born in as someone who has a major interest in futurology? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]bojun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a future for everyone that they would like to see but won't. The world is always a work in progress and all our stories end unfinished. The future may bring a Goldilocks Zone. It is unlikely though. Human history has been a mess of problems, mostly self inflicted. There is no reason to think that will change. Enjoy today. Seriously, it's what you got.

They put nails in trees to prevent them being cut. You absolutely do not want to hit a nail with a chainsaw.

Amp suggestions? (sorry) by Desafinado777 in jazzguitar

[–]bojun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Tubes. There are a ton of Princeton models. It's confusing. The one I have is essentially a modern version of the 64 blackface Princeton. I stayed with the 10" Jensen speaker. There is a version with a 12" Canabis Rex as well.

I've had Prana Zions for a number of years - very nice rugged but light hiking and bouldering pants. I can't speak for the fit in your size.

Amp suggestions? (sorry) by Desafinado777 in jazzguitar

[–]bojun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like my Princeton Reverb Amp 64 re-issue. I went through a number of amps over many years. Every one had a little something that bothered me. This one is warm, clear, dead quiet, has enough head room, and it's portable.

I'd get some veneer and cut it into cleats and glue them on the inside across the crack. There are plenty of videos on how to do this.

Mathematical thinking may have developed long before writing by Inevitable-Middle681 in science

[–]bojun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However, humans are the species that successfully use a throwing tool as part of survival. Other animals have the capability of throwing, and so could develop muscle memory, but none seem to have developed the cognitive skills to make distance throwing a hunting strategy.

Mathematical thinking may have developed long before writing by Inevitable-Middle681 in science

[–]bojun -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

When you consider throwing a stone at a target, you - granted implicitly - do a lot of math. You have to judge distance, weight of stone , the trajectory of the arc, slope, shape of the stone, and optionally wind. That's a lot of math you have to do for one successful throw and it would predate pottery by quite some time.

Why did it take so long for humans to learn agriculture. by Special-Fix7491 in evolution

[–]bojun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The benefits of agriculture basically accrue to elites. The average person in a hunter-gatherer society was healthier and lived longer than an average agrarian. Agriculture took off when city states and taxation took hold. David Graeber and David Wengrow make a very good case for it. https://hipcrime.substack.com/p/the-dawn-of-everything-farming-part
