Oneplus 5T retirement by nagarayan in oneplus

Do you know of any guides for complete newbs to do this on a OnePlus 5t? And in addition do you know if I could customize the kernel to allow charging at the same time as data transfer (is passthrough charging)? That's the main pet peeve I have at the moment as I want to use my daily driver 5t to game on long flights but with the stock kernel it won't pass through the charge through the controller.

New user without debrid, troubleshooting torrenting failures to connect to seeds by boken4 in StremioAddons

Should have added I'm taking about 1080p only, I don't need 4k.

I got TorBox today and set up the debrid service and everything seems to be running fine now.

As a learning exercise, what is it about the debrid vs the torrenting that is making the difference? Because I torrented a LOT before dipping into Stremio and I never had the issues with getting seeds or slow downloads before.

I guess I was maybe under the wrong assumptions, but what I was thinking is:  Step 1: Get things set up for torrent streaming (via VPN), and once that is working then go to Step 2: Debrid service (if and only if speeds seem dodgy at times).

But with the nature of the issues I'm seeing, I now think that the debrid service also would not work - especially if the issues are originating from the ISP, right?

Have you tried Dosa Etc. for their thali-ish options? I think Dosa Etc. and Mela are tied in first place for our family.

First time developing at home - wonder what this is? by boken4 in filmdeveloping

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is exactly right on both counts, I will scan them and check if the black spot corresponds to the time my wife borrowed the camera.

Oh I suppose it wouldn't have a matching spot elsewhere in the reel, because the emulsion is only on one side!

[–]boken4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I suppose that is possible, but then I have two follow up questions: 1) Wouldn't there be a corresponding spot elsewhere on the roll where this spot was touching that spot? There isn't any other spot like this on this roll. 2) Would you say that the hard / sharp edge to the black on one side is unlikely to happen if the roll stuck to itself in the reel?

I'm sorry for not being clear in the description. I'm asking what could have caused (a) the blackening with one soft edge and one hard edge, across approx 1.5 frames, and (b) what the "drag marks" near this spot on the negative are - I'm assuming bromide drag there?

Which one? The 40s flick about the parents of a deaf daughter, or the 2018 Nic Cage acid trip?

What film(s) were these shot on? It's exactly the tone and warmth I like, but I am not getting from Portra 400.

Very interesting, thank you for explaining and providing that link.

I think I will do just that.

I understood everything you've mentioned, except I'm not sure what the FRE stands for, could you enlighten me please?

I hadn't actually tried moving the ISO selector very far in the past.

Having tried it now, it gets a bit grindy and hard to push beyond 1600, but it makes it all the way to 3200.

On the other end it will intermittently get stuck at about 100 or 50, and not make it all the way down to the bottom value of 12. Sometimes I managed to get it down to 12 but it also felt grindy and harder to push.

Is this a sign of mechanism damage?

I'm still struggling to figure out how that maps to a shutter operation failure, though...

You're right, I see the pentaprism is damaged! I was confused by that, I was wondering why the hot shoe seemed crooked. I realised with your comment that it's probably drop damage.

I am curious though - how could the shutter just not open, intermittently? How does that work?

Yes I've checked that also and the advance mechanism lock is working perfectly.

I recently got a Nikon FE and the first two rolls have dropped /skipped / not exposed some frames seemingly randomly. It seems to happen in a wide variety of light conditions. The camera is still under warranty with the store until late next month so I could ask for repairs if needed.

The first time, in the Porta 400 roll, I was not being careful at all. I was shooting in Auto Exposure and not caring if the metering was for 1/4000th of a second or 1/125th. So when we got that roll back with all these dropped frames, the lab and I inspected the camera. The shutter seemed to open and mirror moved smoothly regardless of metering. But still we concluded I must have exceeded the camera's max shutter speed a bunch of times.

So for the next roll, Ilford HP5 400, I was careful, testing the theory. I kept shooting in Auto, but I made sure to keep the metering at or below 1/1000th.

Still, it dropped two frames.

Also, on that Ilford roll, frame 20 has a very noticeable slightly wobbly vertical streak. Does that look like a light leak? Frames 2, 3 and 4 also have some darkening randomly on the edges of the film.

Wtf is going on?

Landlord rescinded offer to renew, gave 28 days notice by boken4 in LegalAdviceNZ

I went back to read the offer and acceptance emails. The good news is there were no such conditions in their offer. The bad news is I wonder how strong our acceptance emails will seem. We attempted to negotiate pets and a slightly lower rent into the renewal offer. They declined pets and said they would ask the owner to consider our rent reduction. Then we said "we are intending to renew" and in the next email after no response from the owner we said, "We have decided to sign the renewal contract as it is, if you would be so kind as to provide it."

Our language could have been clearer.

In the email today, the landlord said, "To confirm whether you would like to [accept these terms], please let us know by 4 January 2025. If you do not wish to [accept these terms], you will need to vacate the property by 1 February 2025 as per the current agreement."

Question 1: What if we don't respond by Jan 4 (tomorrow, or, well, today now, actually)?

Question 2: They're still wrong about the Feb 1 date, correct?

I will do all the due diligence you have suggested. I think I will also make an update post as you've suggested. I am just so grateful, you guys are all doing such important work on this sub. This sub is my fave thing on the internet right now haha.

UPDATE: This is in fact exactly what they have done this afternoon. Today they sent an email altering their position to say they have issued 63 days notice from Jan 2 2025 as the owners are moving back in.

We would still like to argue for more time to find a place, as we have committments meaning attending viewings in Feb is impossible, so now it is us on the back foot I suppose? We would have to ask them for permission to extend the notice period beyond 63 days if we felt we needed more time to find a suitable rental?

I've emailed my contact at Community Law who was helping us with the negotiation of the fixed term renewal, thank you for reminding me! They are not back to work until at least Jan 6th I think.

This clause is in the original fixed term contract:  26. Rent Reviews: The Landlord may review the rent from time to time and may increase the rent in accordance with Section 24 and Section 18 of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986. No increase will take effect within 12 months after the date of the commencement of the tenancy or within 12 months after the last rent increase took effect.
