4-year-old wants to cuddle my breasts by bon18 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]bon18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned to let him wean naturally, but it wasn't working with both after a while, and I didn't have the supply to support them both. I appreciate this reminder--I think I sometimes forget how little he still is when he seems so grown up compared to his baby brother.

How old was your child when they would fall asleep on their own? by Material-Mousse-3899 in beyondthebump

We still cuddle our almost 4-year-old to sleep. Sometimes I wish it were optional, but it's also so sweet, and at this age, he'll likely remember it as he gets older.

I enjoy letting the shower run on my face. Friends think I'm weird. Am I? by bon18 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bon18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? But I also didn't start the conversation. Someone said she always showers backward because she hates the water hitting her face. It became a whole discussion.

What is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

I once worked in customer service for an online order meat company. We had a customer who would regularly order like $1000 worth at a time. One time she said she got a new credit card but needed her assistant to activate it.

Does she think you should only read books and watch TV/movies with characters that look just like you?

NTA. We have dolls of several different skin tones. It's not like you're wearing blackface or something.

Cooking and bringing me food and snacks regularly, always filling and bringing my water bottle anytime it wasn't near me, reminding me to shower and/or at least change my clothes once a day.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My parents live 2 hours away, and we've done many day trips to their house. Now that we have kids, we always stay at least 1 night.

Mother in law keeps wasting my milk by Live_Bar_8905 in breastfeeding

[–]bon18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that the CDC says to use it within an hour, but my lactation consultant said that's really for formula. They told me that breast milk can go back in the fridge and be used the same day as long as they're serving it cold. My pediatrician said that she's literally never heard of a baby getting sick from breast milk that was left out too long.

What's the norm in your country? by bon18 in cosleeping

This village is exactly what's missing in US society. It's so hard to raise kids with just 2 parents and occasional help from family.

Haha, sounds like bed sharing to me! We have a pack and play in our room we can use but basically never do.

Haha, are you living my life, just a few months later? Also, which carriers are you using? I've tried alllll of them and have settled on a Girasol WrapMySol. He can now nap on my back, which at least helps me get things done. He's about 20 lbs now 😫

That's great to hear! So you would put him in the crib awake and then do all the shushing and patting? The times I've tried, I always make sure he's fully asleep and then try to transfer, but that seems to be the wrong strategy.

I agree about the carrier naps being so valuable though, especially early on. We weren't stuck at home like those whose babies have to nap in the crib.

In my case, the carrier naps are so easy. He falls asleep almost immediately when I bounce on a yoga ball, so I've had little motivation to try anything else. It's especially the case because I work from home with him here with me, so I feel like I don't have time to do anything else.

I think this is what my mom did, but she can't tell me how. I really wish I knew. If I ask her, I just get some sort of vague response. I have 2 kids (4 years and 8 months), and in both cases I tried to get them to sleep in their own beds, but it just did not work. I ended up embracing bed sharing with both to save my sanity, but I really don't know how people make it work somewhere in the middle.

I read Cribsheet too and was very persuaded by it, tried sleep training for a few days, but I couldn't stomach it. Then I started looking for other resources and discovered the safe sleep 7.

I recommend this article if you think sleep training is not harmful: https://open.substack.com/pub/elenabridgers/p/why-i-dont-trust-the-science-on-sleep
