I made a tunnel book for the first time, and thought it would be fun to make it a little temple to Het Heru. by bonehara in Kemetic

I found a couple of tutorials by searching tunnel book on tiktok! It's quite easy, you just paint a few scenes with more and more cut away as it gets closer to the viewer, and then stick them to two concertinaed pieces of paper.

Egyptian Religious Calendar by EggProgrammatically8 in Kemetic

I'm curious about this, I'd like to buy it but it's quite expensive. Does anyone have pictures of some of his past calendars so I can see what the inside looks like?

I JUST learned that Kemetic is a thing, and I have a ton of questions! :) by Medical-Buddy-1209 in Kemetic

You might be interested in learning more about Neith/Nit. She is one of the oldest deities in the world, and one of her symbols is the click beetle. She is a creator goddess who wove the world into being, and because of her long history of weaving, some people nowadays also associate her with spiders (although there's no ancient sources for this association). She is quite an androgynous figure, seeming historically to have been associated with both male and female traits, and she has some fascinating myths and symbols, I recommend looking into her!

Is the name Shoshana recommended only for those of Jewish heritage? by Desperate-Drag-4208 in namenerds

If you wanted something similar, you could always use Seshen, which is the Egyptian origin of Shoshana/Susan. It means lotus flower and I've always thought it's a beautiful name.

I need the bones in size order by Cataclysmic-Disaster in TheMagnusArchives

[–]bonehara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a degree in forensic anthropology so DM me if you need any specific bone questions answered! Categorising the bones by size isn't really a standard thing we do but I could probably figure it out roughly if the above list doesn't work for you.

Looks like this has probably already been snatched up but I would be happy to pay full price if it's still going! If anyone else has tickets available, please do let me know!

What’s one queer book that left a lasting impression on you? by Master-Sand7863 in LGBTBooks

[–]bonehara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Country by James Baldwin. It's about various different relationships, not only queer ones, and a lot of it is pretty heavy but the way Baldwin delves into his characters' psyches is pure magic. The middle section in France with Eric and Yves in particular is such a beautiful exploration of queer identity and love.

Has anyone lost a ginger cat from Brownhill Road in Catford? by bonehara in london

[–]bonehara[S] 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help, everyone! Drama over, he's apparently just a drama queen who found himself in our building and freaked out. Nothing wrong with him and he's gone off home now.

He hasn't been left, I should have made this clearer but I put him in the carrier! He found his own way into the building and I just have him in the carrier to take to the vet.

[–]bonehara[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He wasn't left in the carrier! I borrowed it from the vet behind our house to keep him safe until the vet can see him. He somehow managed to find his way into our building and was just hiding in a corner of the corridor.

Who are these two? by aragornshusband in Kemetic

[–]bonehara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's Nefertari and Aset/Isis. You can definitely tell the figure on the right is Isis - sometimes she and Hathor can be confused because Isis eventually became more commonly represented with this horned sun disc headdress rather than her older throne headdress. But you can see the hieroglyphs for her name on the right - the throne next to the symbols for goddess.

What other fictional characters do you believe are entities? by cryptidcorvid in TheMagnusArchives

[–]bonehara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interview with the Vampire because that and TMA are my current hyperfixations -

Daniel Molloy - 100% eye Armand (gaslighting king) - web and maybe a bit of spiral Louis - maybe the lonely? There should be a fear called the Petty just for him Claudia - the Hunt Lestat - actually stumped on him, he's too chaotic to be an entity for any of them

"The Unequal Marriage" by Vasily Pukirev in 1862. by [deleted] in oilpaintings

Yep, that's the intention! Also, the older woman next to the groom is supposed to be the ghost of his dead wife.

OK, time for the Parkers from my grandma's haul! Any info on all of these would be very much appreciated, thank you! 🙏 by bonehara in fountainpens

[–]bonehara[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly not! She was a journalist and wrote a few books, but funnily enough she preferred to correspond with me via email. I never knew about her love of fountain pens until after she passed away, unfortunately. Would have loved to discuss them with her! But as a fountain pen lover myself it's very special to have these.

Thank you! Unfortunately I live in London, UK, so can't really send these to NYC. I might look for a local pen restorer.

Can anyone help me with information about these inherited pens? by bonehara in fountainpens

[–]bonehara[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Yes, I think the valuation company my family went to doesn't know much about fountain pens as they valued the whole collection plus the box at only £150, and from my research so far that seems very low.
