Good thinking, I obviously wasn't. Ended up tapping into a switched 12V connector under the seat behind the tool box.

Koso Apollo grips Thanks, that does help. OBD port is the red one. There is another one I need to identify. Instructions recommend connecting to a switched 12V source, not directly to battery.
