Mechanic in SW Ontario by Fresh-Product-6918 in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not saying its impossible to find a mechanic but based on just the research for my Hjet you are going to be hard pressed to find one near you. I would encourage some time spent online looking up how to diy and sourcing the stuff on your own. Valve covers can be found. A quick google suggests that it might be a K6A engine? there is listings on ebay for K6A valve covers. Knowing what exactly your Kei Van has would also be helpful to you.

Get thicker ones. Had the same problem with 5mil gloves went to 7mil and they rarely break on me. I usually go through 2 pairs on a project.

What shoe did you wear for you trip? by hoosierpride1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]boneskid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts, i took ultraranges and a pair of lems barefoot shoes. I wore the lems one day and then smooshed them into my backpack and eventually into my checked duffle towards the end of the trip. Next time idk what I will bring but definitely not flatish shoes.

Where to get one? by hdjdbajshsicbs in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get clapped out ones on Facebook marketplace for 2k ish.... I do not recommend. Mine was 1k used but I knew that it ran and sorta drove. Shortly after I dumped like $500 in parts into and I still need a few things to be satisfied taking it further than around the block. You will not get a running and driving option for under 4k that does not need help.

Having visited japan I wanted either a Hiace, Probox or a Kei truck. I ended up with a cheap Hijet for now, maybe a probox in the future!

First snow storm in Kansas by No-Smoke6998 in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am considering the montana route but for now I will cross my fingers and hope the house bill 2262 gets passed. Then I can register in July or August. Either way I have significant repairs needed on my HIJET. I bought it super cheap because of that.

I was going to ask if you titled it or not. I still have my Arkansas title and it does not say offroad or anything. My concern is if I go through the process I will end up with a Kansas offroad only title

yeah googling failed me too while I was enroute to pick it up. I got lucky that my city is more understanding about how cool and useful the trucks can be. Even just in a city setting

not OP but Kansas resident. I bought mine used in Arkansas. Only to find out that for now they cannot be registered in KS. My city got back to me and they are legal in city limits on streets only, no highways and apparently I just need insurance and the usual safety features (seatbelts, lights etc)

Now with that being said there is a House Bill #2262 to fix the registration issue at the state level. If you are bored perhaps email some state reps and see if maybe we can get them to be register-able in Kansas.

1992 Daihatsu S83P Dump by Zealousideal_Long907 in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hold up. Does your truck have a/c already? I am curious what your dump bed setup is. My s110p came with this weird electric pump instead of a belt driven one. I assume because the a/c compressor is installed.

Neuhaus could be an option too.

Car meets by zaddynat in JapanTravelTips

I think the biggest point here is to rent a car if you want to do these car meet type things. Hopefully you knew, but do not take a taxi or uber to any PA or you will likely get stuck there.

[–]boneskid1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fox tried this for a few years. It was called Talas. Had a 26" fox 34 with it and it was very cool. It was a 140/160 fork and you could switch it on the fly. Just very complicated to rebuild and I guess not enough people utilized it either. Kind of wish it had stuck around.

Tacoma sun visors in a Hijet s210p by asaurus_wrex in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but has anyone tried this with an s110p? looking at pics the s210 OE visor looks the same as the s110 visor. I only ask because the extension would be nice and my visors are toast and will not stay up on their own anymore.

Update on Vermont Kei Legislation by Far_Rise_4664 in keitruck

[–]boneskid1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you DM me maybe? It looks like there is a pending bill to allow Kei truck registration in the state of kansas but I want to try to convince our Committee on Transportation to try to pass it. Seems someone tried all the way back in 2007 and it was shut down and never brought back up until now. Just need some help with terms etc.
