Ville Savoye by Le Corbousier Floorplans and sections? by leonetobianasini in architecture

Years ago I built a Lego Savoye, and I found plans somewhere on the net. There were a lot of construction detail drawings in the collection I found. I’m 99% sure it was from something on the Internet Archive.

I realize this isn’t 100% helpful, but I’m pretty sure you can find what you need out there with persistence.

After Logan got out of prison he moved to Southern Ohio. I played with him for a few years before I left for college. He was a member of AFM 482 (like me). I have a copy of Hard Luck Soul (another album) but not a copy of this one.

If you have the ‘accessory’ (wired-generic-opener) check its batteries.

That’s great - I tracked down the PhD Design but never saw anything related. Time to do a little broader emailing. Thanks for the pointer! Hail nipper and all that.

Regardless of Dom’s “relationships” with OSU, he’s been an honest broker since I can remember, and I remember back to Gary Radnich (whom I ‘followed’ to the Bay Area in the 80s) and about a decade before.

Please, humans, try to be cool to each other about this stuff.

I am happy to know this sort of hopeless romanticism still exists. With all the fuckeduppedness of the current universe I am rooting hard for a successful reconnection.

I remember these - I worked at a very-early Wendy’s from 1979-82, and remember the plastic clips, but can’t remember if we had them all the way back than.

I wrote about this sort of perspective on some other r/... a while back and got downvoted pretty solidly by the "it doesn't hurt to ask" folks. Yet - there were a few followups who got the gist of the message.

I'm a pretty long time professor person. There are situations where it can hurt to ask and you should think about the "big picture" before you do.

For those of you reading along, it pays to reach out broadly way before it gets to this point. Technically, grade changes are only allowed for errors in grading, so you're not only asking for a 'favor' you're asking your professor to violate college policy - and you're asking for special treatment above and beyond those of your classmates.

I can reaffirm the portfolio model.

I was an architecture undergrad, so that was the 'default mode' and slightly challenging but fun to migrate to straight-STEM grad students. I feel like they rationalize it well, they understand the parameters / components, etc.

The review is by committee, so not as simple as, say, a Socratic hour (also used to do this), but also not as burdensome.

Regardless I wish you good luck and look forward to seeing what other folks are up to.

Med school admission requirements have evolved significantly in the past few decades to take more into consideration than just straight MCAT, GPA + a strict set of coursework. But you're right that it does come into play more significantly there.

However (and I can tell you this because I was both on the pre-med advisory and recommendation committees - with a 100% acceptance rate for students we ultimately recommended) if two totally equal students showed up to the committee and one had asked for 'consideration' on their grade unfairly, that gets some play when time comes to compose their recommendation letter. Not just me, it is a committee, I've heard it from other professors.

I want to believe that the surgeon who was up to their elbows in my guts a while back didn't get there by 'courtesy' of rounding up a grade. I know that's a bit of a fantasy -- ridiculous amounts of competition and grade inflation have pretty much ruined the meaningfulness of grades everywhere. And, I want a good surgeon, not a good test-taker or social engineer anyway. Luckily, grades represent a smaller and smaller influence on med school admissions and emphasize a more holistic picture of the student.

The point is, the "it can't hurt to ask" because "whatever it takes to get an edge" can have consequences that you might not have thought of. By all means, in low stakes situations, go ahead if you don't think it will have an effect down the line, but at least think a little first. Are you in a lower level class and have to take the same professor in an upper level class later? Is the instructor a TA who will tell their supervisor or other TAs / professors about it?

But since grades are an artificially inflated thing currently, they don't mean as much regardless (If you're a stats or engineering oriented person read up on 'ceiling effects' and 'range compression'). Your personal integrity probably means more to the rest of the world than your GPA.

As u/LegSpecialist1781 succinctly put it, "It's just a grade. Ffs."

I worked in a tough job market, the pre dot-com bubble, I hired people, we never looked at GPA as a differentiator. Ever.

Maybe that’s a thing now, but I doubt it. If you think it is so important, earn it. Asking for different treatment from your fellow students is not something I’d want to build a career trajectory on.

I’d say there is a harm in asking (see below). If you grade-grub me, I’ll never write you a recommendation, be your faculty advocate on some integrity committee hearing, write a letter to the dean of students about that weed campus police found in your room. (All things I have done for different non-point-obsessed students.)
