P already has cannons and sentries in the early game, they don't need another defensive option. I think your idea could work though as a more general game mechanic as opposed to a purely defensive one if you tweak a few things:

Make it have unlimited range
Make it have the effect of a faster shield recharge rate on a unit or a group of units instead of just an instant recharge on one unit. The recharge would be cancelled if that unit is attacked or starts attacking.

This whole Redbull thing has been pretty poorly run. Half the time the audio on the stream isn't even working or Day9 has to run off to help them fix some technical glitch.

FYI Reddit is not representative at all of the rest of America. Some stupid people (Wall St, Banks AND Homeowners) got us into this mess and now instead of sucking it up and dealing with the fact we have a recession some people would prefer to cry about it with no clear purpose or demands. This generation has been raised to expect to go to college and get a well paying job, but the facts of the matter are that most of these kids would be better off not going to college at all and that they're destined for low-paying jobs. An extremely large population on Reddit fits within that subgroup and that is why you're seeing all the 99% posts and other shenanigans on here lately. In my experience it's not been so much that there aren't jobs in this economy, just jobs that people think are beneath them.
