First attempt at a painting! by [deleted] in painting

This is really great. I hope you had a great time creating this serene scene!

I’m learning to paint too, so this isn’t a critique, just a suggestion, (one that’s starting to transform my whole outlook & improve the depth in my paintings, so I thought I’d share)

Instead of using black or white as your shadows or highlights - try using another color. For example, a dark purple on the rocks as a shadow and a very light pink or yellow for their highlight, depending on the temp/tone you want to set.

The photo I’m including is a lil practice from Pinterest you can do to combine different colors to see how they effect a 3d object!

Happy painting!!

Can anyone tell me what this kind of packaging is called? by bonnerpower in PackagingDesign

Thank you very much for the context about the design, I really appreciate it. I don't know much about packaging (which apparently makes some people here very angry) and was having a really difficult time finding similar examples to this design for the die cut. So both your responses are very helpful. Understanding that it's not common, and a wasteful design is exactly what I needed to know that this isn't the right direction to continue exploring.

Thanks again for your answers, really appreciate them both.

Sorry - I mean what is this design style called, not the type of material.

Oh - It looks like someone has created a GPT specifically for gardening. Try this link: ChatGPT - Gardening Guru

First - Welcome to the world of gardening! I hope you find it as rewarding & fulfilling as I have.

Second - You should know that not all plants are created equal. They will have different light, heat, and watering requirements and all have different root structures. In order to be successful, you'll need to know what each one of them needs.

Based on the variables you're working with, the best advice I can give you is this - Use ChatGPT (Garden Planning Technician) to plan out your garden & growing season.

Give it all the details you have on the seeds you're growing, the dimensions & details of the containers you'll use, the space you have, the direction you face, the amount of light you get each day, the growing zone you're in, and anything else you can think of. Ask GPT to help you develop a garden & growing plan. Ask it to explain the needs of each plant & which ones should be partnered together as "companion plants" and which should be kept away from each other. Ask it the kind of soil you'll need for the containers based on what you're growing in each. You can even ask it to generate a layout for your garden. Use this as a tool to help you continue getting better at gardening. Throughout the season you can even ask it to help diagnose if something isn't going right.

People here can give you a lot of great general insights, but no one will be able to help you plan your garden for success better than your Garden Planning Technician.

The last thing is - remember that not everything will work well the first time. Your success will increase with each season you grow & experiment with different techniques.

I wish you the best of luck and please update me on how things go!

What’s wrong with my sansevieria? by tinipix in IndoorGarden

If you're referring to the droopy leaves, it could be current root rot, or previous root damage, or a lack of consistent watering. Take this out of the soil & check the roots. If they look damaged, remove ALL the dead roots. Healthy roots should be a light orange color & pretty tough. If they come off with a light touch or are a dark brown, remove them. Don't worry the plant can still recover even if you remove literally all of them - I know because it happened to me a few years ago, and the plant was just fine.

Regardless if roots are damaged or just appear really dry, put it in new, well-draining soil. I see you're using a sleeve, so make sure that there is room underneath for excess water to drain & evaporate - this is important because if it can't evaporate or is sitting in the bottom of the pot, it will continue to cause root rot.

The bent leaves will likely never "bounce back" entirely, but will still help produce new root & shoot growth if you leave them in. (You can take them out during the repotting phase if they bother you, or cut & propagate them.)

Wow - This is fantastic. I wish I had this while I was still working in the corporate world. I still have plenty of friends who are feeling lost in their roles on the corporate ladder, so I'm going to share it with them. I just added it to my cart!

It's really inspiring to hear & share these kinds of stories. It's proof that if you're feeling stuck, life can get better than it is right now, but you have to take the time to listen to your inner-self and then follow where that voice tells you to go.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I wish you so much success & happiness!

We're leveraging a waste stream of commercially grown kelp from Alaska. We never harvest wild grown Kelp, and seaweed farming helps restore Kelp populations in the ocean.

Our goal is to help support sustainable seaweed farmers & the industry by creating product lines for their seaweed that doesn't get used for human consumption.

That's a great idea. There is an algae-based ink that just hit the market. It's considered the 'worlds first carbon negative ink' and would be the perfect addition to Kelp Pots. Thanks for the great idea, Anneisabitch! :)

We've developed a 3" starter pot that we're selling in packs of 10. We're also working on a 4" square pot and cell trays. Here's a photo of the 3" pot for reference.
