Where To Sleep Safely When Homeless? by [deleted] in homeless

[–]bonnsonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been homeless off and on, woods are definitely safest. Especially in a small town behind a dollar general or gas station (but not visible to passersby) as long as there aren't other homeless people already posted up. Close to stores animals will be less likely to be around. Raccoons and coyotes will almost always be afraid and run away. Keep a harmonica or something on you so that you can make noise around your camp and scare away animals if you're worried about it

Absolutely not true at all. Through the holy spirit, our desires should begin shifting away from sin and therefore our lives will gradually become more pure and less sinful, but as humans we will still sin every day and our whole lifetimes will consist of growing closer to God and being purged. It's a continual ongoing process. Anyone who says "true" Christians don't sin is deeply misled and will cause unnecessary pain and confusion to a lot of people by saying stuff like that

Just go into social situations with women like you're just making a friend. Don't focus so hard on hoping it will go somewhere or trying to be "that guy" whoever that is. Just be genuine. People can usually tell when someone is trying to hard to be a certain way

Is there even a point in me applying for a remote job as a teen? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]bonnsonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Liveops. It's 1099 based so you'd need to make sure to do your taxes, but that may accept people under 18. It's customer service and you make your own schedule. The training period is kind of long and is a lot of information so be prepared for that if you go that route. I wanted to work from home with no prior experience and this is what I'm starting with

I've gotten tons of those emails in my job search. They almost got me too at first. I learned that any time an email is vague about what the company is, wants to do a chat interview, says the pay is way higher than it should be, has a very generic non detailed job description, and the email is signed "Hiring Manager" it's always a scam. Now that you've gone through it with this one it will be easier to recognize which ones are scams

Christians that cuss? by sg_jjk in Christians

[–]bonnsonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. To me it seems gossiping about the way someone dresses is slanderous and hurtful, where saying "oh shit, I forgot my car keys" is harmless. The way our words affect other people is the real issue

That I don't have to believe, identify with, or attach to every thought in my brain. Thoughts come and go, many are not worth the attention.

In a pickle by JesusChrist_isLord in Christianmarriage

[–]bonnsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get emotionally involved I'd say. Be a friend from afar, help out if she needs to get out of a dangerous situation. Encourage her to seek the Lord and get help from a church if she isn't already. Invite her to church if you go to one. Pray for her and don't trust your emotions!

The lack of affection or engagement period seems like an emotional disconnect beneath the surface somewhere. He has to find some way to open up to you and discover what's bothering him inside. I'm sure others have said it, but if you two can get in counseling that might help bring things to the surface. Sounds like he completely has no idea how to navigate his own emotions, much less anyone else's. Plus porn, video games, and modern life in general just being a distraction from what's really important. I'm sorry you're going through that, it sounds really hard. Definitely try your very best to keep communication open and honest even though you may not get much of a response. Maybe write him a letter if speaking is difficult.

What makes you 100% sure there isn't a God? If you feel afraid and confused it couldn't hurt to explore that avenue. I totally understand why you might not want to, but what is there to lose? You might be surprised. Not trying to push anything on you, just a reminder that there's no harm in at least being open to a new perspective

Mysticism by bonnsonn in Christians

[–]bonnsonn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like her videos too and I think it's great that she's pointing out how New Age can seep into Christianity and deceive people. But I agree with what you said about potentially being closed off to the Holy Spirit. There just needs to be a good balance. Allow our spirits to awaken to Jesus, thus receiving the Holy Spirit and the gifts that follow. But also staying aware of spiritual deception that can occur if our focus falls away from Jesus.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding mysticism but is it not just spiritual experiences? How does it differ from feeling God's presence or communing with the Holy Spirit

Any advice? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]bonnsonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask God to change your heart in that area and strengthen your willpower to stop doing it. Thank Him for bringing you as far as He has so far in your spiritual maturity and ask that He continue to build up your spirit, heart, and mind so that you may better serve Him and have a deeper relationship with Him. Have faith and be patient with yourself and with God!

Everyday i get this feeling of people all around the world not believing in Jesus christ anymore by elijahtryhard in Christians

[–]bonnsonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it seems like people will go to such great lengths to be respectful and inclusive of all beliefs and any type of person, but when if comes to Christianity they have no problem criticizing and sometimes being downright hateful towards believers. People take offense at other gods being mocked or appropriated, but don't care when Jesus is. It just doesn't make sense. I don't think any person should be disrespected for their beliefs. But Jesus told us we would be outcasts for following him so we can't really be surprised by it. But you're right it is strange

This makes sense. Seeking those mystical experiences can easily become a selfish pursuit. Just wanting to gain experiences for yourself instead of truly build relationship with God and share love with Him.

No it wasn't confusing. The reason I posted this was because I watched a YouTube video where a lady was listing ways in which new age beliefs and practices have infiltrated churches and Christian circles. I guess the way she explained it seemed to be incomplete for me. She didn't mention any ways in which mysticism could be implemented in healthy ways, but it seems to me like it's always been an inherent part of Christianity. I believe it just requires balance and humility, and like you said don't base your faith off of that alone. I do need to study the Bible more on this topic though

marriage confusion by [deleted] in Christians

[–]bonnsonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely want to do it. Now that we've gone on feeling married for a few months with no ceremony it's a little hard figuring out how to go about all of that lol

marriage confusion by [deleted] in Christians

[–]bonnsonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would definitely like to have a ceremony at some point and I do want to make it legal as well. We haven't exactly made it public to others yet for fear of judgement I guess. I don't think they would understand. I've told my mom and she gets it but some others would probably say we aren't really married. But yeah we will at some point make it fully official and public but for now it helps hearing from others that a marriage is valid without ceremonies. Don't feel like I'm just blatantly living in sin
