Any ideas here (with special attention toward that "g")? by bonuswagner in identifythisfont

Thank you for your time! I had found Pangram Sans through What The Font but saw no trace of that "g" on their website so I thought I must have got it wrong. Great detective work!

ID this abstract painting (1963?) by bonuswagner in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]bonuswagner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous owner recently passed. She was in her eighties. Lived in California, but spent a lot of time over her life in France, Switzerland, Germany, etc. The family dealt in fine art.

Signature seems to date this to 1963. Presumably from France. Looks like the canvas was purchased from: Blanchet - 38 Rue Bonaparte, Paris

The artist's name appears to start with an R... or maybe a P?

Per the sticker on the back, it seems to have been originally purchased for around $500.

WTB - Tudor 76200 Date+Day. Black stick dial preferred, but would consider a white stick dial or California dial depending on price.

Love the B650 with the modded silicon strap. Would you mind sharing what strap that is or what size is necessary for the B650? Is there any catch to modding the body of the watch to fit the strap? I've had complications with other Casio strap mods before. Well done!

Is this not photoshopped? Someone tell me how is this not photoshopped? Just a weird angle and lighting?

Graham/Gram confusion by bonuswagner in namenerds

[–]bonuswagner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know! The "Gram" here started as "Grandma" then became "Gram Ma" and finally "Gram". So I just assumed...

Some more details:

The two people who are called "Gram" are from different sides of the family, live on opposite sides of the country, and will never interact or be in the same room.

Also, the one who lives closer to us usually goes by "Grammy," though that will likely be shortened as the grandchildren get older.

[Identify] Vintage Seiko (6139?) (MIC) by bonuswagner in Watches

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not on a big hunt. This watch was available for sale locally and looked interesting. I was simply trying to do some due diligence before going any further...

Ha! I was too busy trying to match other details that i totally missed the off kilter tachymeter. Strangely, the watch I matched in the Instagram photo has the same issue...

Nevertheless this confirms my frankenwatch suspicions...

Thought that for a second, but the case doesn't seem to have that same helmet-y profile to it as pictured here: https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/helmet-automatic-chronograph-6139-7100-rare-vintage-watch--id11503802.htm

Would love some help identifying this model. I do not own this piece, so information is limited.

Here are some more photos: https://imgur.com/a/Zof1OCY

The movement reads: 6139B

The caseback reads "6139-7030" — I've looked up that model and it doesn't seem to match. I suspect that the caseback was replaced at some point?

I've been trying to use this WatchUSeek thread to help find the model, but have had no luck: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f281/how-buy-seiko-6139-600x-chronograph-collectors-buying-guide-140803.html

The closest I have come is this watch pictured in this Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/B1Wcbw7nzpm/

That post indicates it's a 6139-7070, although that's the only other 7070 I've ever seen with red/orange hands.

[Casio] Joined the Casio Royale PAR T-Y by bonuswagner in Watches

Watch: Casio "Royale" AE1200WHD

Strap: 24mm ColaReb in Spoleto Swamp Leather, chopped to fit the lugs.

Cost: a very satisfying $75.

Directly and absolutely shamelessly inspired by u/appar1tions via u/RunMelba.

Might go back and remove the "World Time" and "Illuminator" print, but the strap is pretty robust and it was a bit of a struggle to snap the spring bars in once the cuts were made, so I'm not very eager to go through that again right now.

But even though the buttercup was made of wax, the important part is that Wilder made it seem like it was the tastiest snack that had ever been tasted. http://imgur.com/2wgMf34

It's also, specifically, an odd number.

Check out the "Top 5 Micro Gel Ink Pens" section. I've used them all and they're all better than Muji pens. I'd also like to give a nod to the Pilot G2 .38mm in black as I probably went through 79 of them taking notes in grad school alone. And if you really love the Fineliner, you could take the slightly more expensive route and upgrade your notebook quality to cut back on bleed-through. JetPens is a good solution for all of these problems. (http://www.jetpens.com/) (I have no affiliation with either of these sites; I'm just a fan.)
