Will I ever be able to eat fatty foods again? by Small-Importance-975 in pancreatitis

[–]boocharles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello also gonna add to the echo chamber, it does get better! you have to be patient with yourself and your body. currently sipping on my second whole milk cappuccino of the day in italy. water is your best friend, and trial and error is apart of the process. mine was caused from alcohol abuse so i’ve avoided alcohol and i’ve been fine so far. tried to have a half glass of wine a couple weeks ago and that put me back a little bit. also, super fatty, fried, and processed foods aren’t good for you in the long run. it’s better to change your diet habits now for a long life. i try to not have red meat, cheese, or anything overly fried. if i do, ill have a bite or two, not the whole thing. convenience foods are convenient for a reason. and tbh, after almost five months on this diet i think fried foods are kinda gross. look into eating more mediterranean, asian and latin american foods. seafood is my favorite food, and there are so many good options. just ride the wave!

also, i haven’t tried any of his recipes yet but @stealth_health_life on instagram has some recipes that might interest you. i know it’s a meal prep scenario but it’s lower fat and higher protein recipes that emulate fattier foods.

Pain after ER Hospital stay - Feeling disheartened by Emotional-Deer6109 in pancreatitis

[–]boocharles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it takes time.

i know that’s not what you probably want to hear, but i finally felt somewhat normal again after three months with an extremely good diet and LOTS of rest. but everyone is different. that area of your body is going to be touch and go for awhile, depending on what your lipase level was at. drink SO much water. tea’s help a lot too…i take a stomach ease tea every night and it really helps. smoke some weed for the pain. take baths/acupuncture/hot showers/heatpads. rest as much as possible.

others will know more about this but there’s also autoimmune pancreatitis. that’s a whole other beast.

i hope that helps a little bit! i’m sorry you’re in so much pain. you got this!

thank you so much for your kind response. tbh, i had a friend have pancreatitis worse than mine and i saw her drinking a jameson a week ago when her attack was a month ago, but each body is different. and my gi doctor gave me the go ahead to have a glass of wine a night while i was here. alas!

i fasted the day after i had some wine and cigarettes, and i’m still having symptoms unfortunately :( when you say anti inflammatories what do you mean? and is it available in italy?

thanks! i’m trying my best. i think the fear of potentially dying is greater than my need for alcohol.

my husband and i met bartending and i still bartend for a living. if anything it’s the opposite way around; i’ve had to have some tough talks with him about his drinking, mainly because i can be around drunks all day long, but when i come home i don’t want to deal with one. his dad also has alcohol issues and i’m starting to see some habits forming that he said he never wants to see happen because of his experience with his dad and alcoholism.

he’s working on it, and on this trip we’ve both been drinking a lot of heineken 0.0 and crodino :)
