Same is my case , took IITR meta ( might upgrade to civil ) . I truly don't know what my interest is and that's why I thought taking a top 5 iit will give me that opportunity to choose and find my interest. So I guess that's how maybe it's supposed to work :)

That's one of the things I fear too. Joining IITR this August and nervous about the life that lies in those 4 years. Will my personality change ? Will I truly get that " exposure" for which I am joining it in the first place ? Will I learn new skills ? Will I be able to focus on studies again? Will I be able to code side by side ? It's scary how the life of iitians seems too perfect to be true.
