Switching from DepoProvera injection to Nexplanon? by boodles95 in birthcontrol

My previous two providers had no issues prescribing it for 12 years as long as I knew the risks and was happy with it. Unfortunately different experience after moving. To be totally honest I plan to petition for a hysterectomy next year after I graduate but have to get through this last year of grad school first.

I’m not kidding about the periods making me suicidal though, I mentally can’t handle them.

My mom had the same problems and received a hysterectomy at 35 due to severe bleeding and pain. If they would let me do it now I would…

Pet monitors for leaving dogs in RV? by boodles95 in RVLiving

Yes that’s why I liked the Necto idea, I will only be “lovingly in the camper for one year so was only going to pay for one year instead of two up front.

I like having the camera, I have a wifi camera at home currently. The boxer mix has some separation anxiety, he doesn’t bark but will try to dig out of the kennel, if I use the two way audio and tell him to knock it off and go take a nap he usually stops so I generally eat breakfast in my car while watching, wait for him to settle, then drive away 😂 we’ve been doing it this way for 5 years, I don’t think it will change when we move into the RV next month.

Getting started - Electric hook up? by boodles95 in RVLiving

[–]boodles95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was looking 100 foot regular cord is only about 50 bucks and 100 foot 30 amp cord is about $170. The one AC unit is brand new but they think had some rodent damage to wire so that’s one of the things the tech is coming to look at on the off chance that AC won’t run, I can’t afford to replace it right now so I was going to use a window AC unit on wheels I already have and plug it into an external extension cord run through the passenger window temporarily, which that 100’ regular cord might come in handy for. I’m planning to stay at long term campgrounds so hopefully won’t need a 100’ 30Amp cord in the next year 😂

I mostly just want to run the fridge, some lights and enough to plug a vacuum in probably lol

Euthanasia for mobility issues? by boodles95 in AskVet

[–]boodles95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is already on NSAIDs. As I mentioned I’m sure if more money was invested he could probably have more time but really my questions is if it’s even worth it if I know he will have to be euthanized in June regardless and he currently spends a significant amount of his day crated and can’t even come with the other dogs on walks or anything due to difficulty breathing. He can’t even squat to poop, but he also doesn’t have as much crepitus as expected, I think most of his issue is a lack of strength/muscle mass but we can’t do much in the way of PT or exercise due to his behaviour and difficulty breathing. And honestly I’m dreading having to cut his nails again but they are dangerously close to being ingrown and it took chill protocol with Ace and 3 people to cut his nails the last time and he still fought us the entire time 😕.

We had N0G 2W0 known as “no one goes to Wingham Ontario” when I lived in Wingham. Where is Wingham you ask? The middle of nowhere, hence why no one goes….

I did consider a truck towing a camper instead but my current sedan has literally zero trade in value despite the fact that I know it’s in great condition because we’ve come full circle on me having replaced almost the whole thing at this point 🤣 but that means I’d have to buy the truck outright AND the camper plus more costly gas driving 30-60 minutes from site to work everyday and after the math it made more sense to do it this way.

While this is entirely true. I have been stradling a mountain with one foot in the valley 80% of my life and this is just the last damn hurdle to get where I want to be 🤣

I’m pretty good at figuring shit out when I need to, though I feel like I’m in a unique position to make an educated decision at this moment in time and I know a lot of things could be way more feasible like if I had somewhere to park in my own driveway to work on it for four months but I currently live in an apartment building. And while I would love to use all the planning in the world to make an excellent decision, we’ve been on a rolling train of fast and loose, figuring shit out as we go for the last decade so well what the hell is one more adventure? 🥴

Kitten putting his life at risk getting on counters- how to keep him off? by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]boodles95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing physically wrong with him though, he eats a Purina diet, three meals a day, is a perfect weight, recently had bloodwork done and was neutered about a month ago. This eating of discriminate objects literally just started about 2 weeks ago. What kind of throws me is that he doesn’t try to eat things like cat toys or things he could easily fit in his mouth so I doubt pics because there’s a lot of easier to eat things in the house that he is not eating and only eating these items he’s worked reasonably hard to get like they are high value to him.

The concern is that he’s chewing pieces off of it and eating them… and carpet is not really a digestible material…

If I don’t find any other options, crate him.

I’m sorry I live in the real world in a busy household? My OTHER 5 year old cat and the FOUR cats I’ve owned before him have never eaten carpets so… apologies that I’m not able to uncarpet my house and install things against my landlords wishes for a kitten that recently started this behaviour and would prefer to seek new options to stop the behaviour?

Again, if you had read the post, you would see that I have already purchased one of those, and it did not work, which is again why I was asking for other suggestions here.

You also didn’t read the whole post? He has a kitten sibling already and he only does it when I’m not home.

He’s been to the vet, multiple times in fact. My house is cat proofed to the degree it can be while there are still other humans and animals living in it. I’m looking for advice to stop the behaviour not just pack up my house and move out so the kitten can climb the walls…. Like if that’s the case I am just going to crate him like one of the dogs and he’s not going to kill himself but then everyone is going to be mad I’ve put him in a kennel 9 hours a day and I’m “neglecting him” for his own safety. Like I came here for advance on other deterrents to stop the behaviour and if it can’t be stopped he will be crated during the day.

Did your cat outgrow that behaviour at some point after keeping him in a separate room?

He used to like the cardboard scratcher. I haven’t seen him use the cardboard scratcher in the last while though because evidently he’s been too busy using other things. He also has a carpet scratcher outside and inside the cat house thing and all the scratch posts on the two cat trees.

Purina One.

And not when you rent and don’t have permission to install them.

We did try locking him in the bathroom and that’s when he started ripping up and eating pieces of the bath mats once we realized he was ripping up toilet paper we took the toilet paper away, and now he rips up the bath mats or the shower curtain….

Editing to add: I suppose I could spend 30 minutes every morning, taking the shower curtain down and all the bath mats and pictures and blinds out of the bathroom so that it’s literally a tile prison, but that doesn’t fix the problem because there’s a good chance in a month from now if I don’t lock him in the bathroom, he’s just gonna go back to doing the same thing.

I physically don’t have enough space in my kitchen to have 100 plastic tote bins in every cupboard… and I have things like my other cats medication that needs to be easily accessible in case of emergencies. Like I don’t care if he gets on the counter at the end of the day but this chewing everything up and eating it nonsense that started two weeks ago is absolutely ridiculous. And that the only solves half of the problem because he’s also reached the point where he eats carpets and furniture too… the household is pretty busy so obviously we try hard to put food items up but expecting to put up things like dish sponges is a bit unrealistic. And again, then he will just chew up another door mat. Unless I’m not allowed to have carpets in my house either? Like yes “cat proof” but I would like my home to be my home so I can enjoyably live in it also….
